"Heavy Haulage through the years"

Hi oily! Been lurking, just had litle bit to mutch to do so. And just back from 2weeks holliday in punta cana. The bäckstrands Scania is driven by a really good friend of mine. They have had it repainted since this picture.

Danne

Them fluckinger pics. They took the contract on Volvo machine from DHL and build some strange trailers for transports from the factorys to the ports and dealers. Easternblock or german drivers swedish reg trucks and trailers. But the have had some troubble loading them new trailers and getting the weights wrong ending up paying some fines…

Danne

I just posted this on the Ossis Atkinsons for M/E work and I think it deserves a place here as full of cattle its better than 100 tons on the move

Thanks Deanb All the best to you and all the HH crew for the coming year.

Looks like a load of drilling muds no wonder the front trailer is a tad bentish.

Nice one Johnny it worked out with 3 trailers at a litre per kilometre so I had to google to convert it to MPG and its 2.352 miles per gallon
2 trailers was 1.33 litres/kilometer thats 3.757 MPG.
I paid my fuel bills with a visor card that gave me frequent flyer points for every dollar in a transaction so it paid for a few trips by air for me and the cook, one was to the UK .
A mate who had a Mack Titan truck on cattle pulling 3 double decker crates after the first season it had averaged 880 metres to the litre.

I have just read Deanbs [good one Deano] article on the Brackmills Nicholas 6x6 tractor unit it was powered by the same engine as my KW theirs set at 450hp mine was 525hp with a couple of hundred more foot pounds of torque.

Thanks DIG. I live in Germany, so litres are fine for me [emoji3][emoji3]

That is quite some going. You must have had big fuel tanks to have any decent range. Must have been quite an adventure driving it though.

Johnny the KW had 4 x 400 litres round tanks the Mack I replaced it with had 4x 500 litre round tanks and I see now that the manufacturers have gone back to square section tanks and 2200litres is not uncommon on the triple rated trucks.
Most of you blokes over there that drive the larger trucks wouldn’t have a problem jumping behind the wheel of one of these triples remember we have a fair bit of room to play over here,Darwin allow triples right into their wharf areas on a specified route but they still mix with normal traffic,Perth allow them in 2 trailer configuration into the transport hub area of Kewdale which means they mix with normal traffic on a gazetted route,I.m not sure about the eastern states cities they have some access but I.m not sure just how big .

Cheers for posting this pic Oily, saw it the other day in Germany, couldn’t believe my eyes…

Do you know what make it is Danne? Or is it some self designed and constructed trailer? Was wondering indeed how they can legally load two A30 dumpers, what’s the average weight of a A30 you reckon, around 23ish tonnes?
Used to be only Austrian and Swedish drivers at F(l)uckinger… it’s going downhill there then as well eh…

Hope you enjoyed your time off mate, got some sun tan now eh

I’ve driven the longer loads DIG (see pic), but I reckon I would struggle with the extra trailers, much easier to have just the one long piece…

Johnny I reckon you would have more trouble getting that around a roundabout than I would with a triple, is the rear jinker steerable and that must be better than 50 metres .
A triples max length is 56.5 metres
