Larry, side loading has always been a bit dodgy, is it still allowed?

Still common practice in Holland, mainly due to narrow construction sites, and being on your way as quick as possible. They do swirl the under carriage 'round though, otherwise the width would be a problem.

I’ve never seen such a short wheel based tractor unit before, and the back end of the trailer looks interesting, was it made from a Rogers tank trailer?

Back in the day when things were a bit more easy…

Amsterdam based haulier Multiwheels, they had a mighty Volvo F16, they didn’t kept it unfortunately, have added a DAF XG in the new livery to their fleet.

Rear of extendable trailer is and adaptation of front off an ex us army trailer with an Akerman steering front end mounted the opposite way round with armstrong steering geared down . 8 inline ,2 independant axles.
Trailers were not available in those days like they are now its to easy

This is great stuff Chris! More of that please! How did they worked out the strength of the trailer and what it was capable of carrying? Just a case of try and error?

The French used to come up with some ingenious home made trailers as well.
