DISPATCHER:
Wonder who’s Scammell towing Pickford trailer I doubt its Pickfords I dont recall them having any like that and its not in their livery

Fairly certain that Pickfords did own that Scammell as featured in this Rolls Royce spec sheet.(same reg)

What engine would these Bedfords have been fitted with? The ones I had would have struggled to pull that trailer let alone with a digger onboard.

You’d hope it was a 466 or 500, eh.

When I first looked at the pic I thought the rear unit was doing the pushing. Then I noticed that it also had a loaded trailer. Fair play to them if they managed to get the job done.

A model produced here in Oz was powered with a Detroit V6 53 series.

That model had the double bumper, bullbaresque. Carryfast claimed that in the UK they were fitted with 6V 71s, but I doubt that. We would have had a greater use for the bigger motor, than the Pom operators.

Can well believe it Dig, I have posted this before but I once spotted a TK with a large Cat engine in on heavy work parked at a roadhouse in NSW. It would have been more accurate to say that, rather then in, the TK cab seemed to be perched on top of the engine, I could see clearly the yellow engine through the ample space above the wheels under the wheel arch.

Probably just the Bedford cab. There was an NH Mack on heavy haulage, updated with a TK cab, I don’t recall what engine was used, but I have previously posted a link on this forum.

Purfleet Dock yesterday when the outfit was driven on board ship to unload this machine to avoid having to “track” it across the dock thereby avoiding damaging the road surface ! Bewick.

We used to regularly deliver loads of Libby products into SCC at Devizes in the 70’s early 80’s I can’t just remember whether it was for onward delivery to Sainsburys or Libbys used SCC to store their products in their Warehouse . Cheers Bewick.
