"Heavy Haulage through the years"

The diesel prices at the moment must be adding quite a sum to the monthly/daily fuel bill for transport companies. I’ll maybe stick to a bike for a while…

I was on my way to Sweden this week, and as the Scandinavian countries are expensive on everything, I thought I fill up in Germany… I got 300L for E840…

Your getting yourself mixed up I think Dan’l surely it is Volvos you are comparing to Bedfords as it appears that they (Volvos) are knocking some out at bargain basement prices to reduce their inventory ! Only professional outfits can buy Scania ! Cheers Denzil.

Well I’am reliably informed that the 540 Volvo will kick the ■■■ of some of these V8 Bedfords and yes I’ve heard good basement prices with money upfront

Btw you wouldn’t sleep in a bed setee in your house so why set up an IKEA bed in a Scania :open_mouth:

Well Dan’l I will have to defer to your superior knowledge of dossing in a sleeper cab as I can tell you that I never kipped in a sleeper cab and my only experience of doing so was the odd “40 winks” in the D1000 in the days of yore when hours and records didn’t mean much to a young fella !
Oh! and for the record the ratio of Scanias to Volvos in the old Bewick fleet was 4:1 so that is self explanatory ! Cheers Denzil.

From what I read on Facebook etc Scania reliability and build quality isn’t what it used to be and Volvo are now well ahead, shades of how MAN were once the choice for tippers around here but problems with them has seen their number decline now. I guess nothing stays the same?

Pete.

Well being as there’s no ERF or Foden available I’ve settled for the next best thing the real V :sunglasses:

Well I can’t claim to be directly involved in the industry anymore but what I can say is my Pal MAP isn’t experiencing any problems with their 100% Scania fleet so that’s good enough for me. I appreciate that times and manufacturers do change but as for Dan’l suggesting that as there are no longer any ERF’s or Fodens available he has chosen Volvo as the nearest equivalent unit comparable to the former UK built motors so that just about sums Volvos up  Much too bigger leap for him to move up to a Scania I believe £££££ :unamused:  Cheers Denzil.

The saying “Couldn’t pull the skin off a rice pudding” springs to mind about Volvo ! :frowning: :unamused:
