"Heavy Haulage through the years"

AFAIK the Eaton Fuller boxes only went in the Mercs that went down under. To the best of my knowledge even the biggest Titan versions used ZF boxes.

Would they have sold more units if a constant mesh gearbox was on the option list? Maybe some operators that were interested in trying a MB might have been put off by the EPS 'box?

You’re on the ball regarding the Titans I reckon, I’ve never seen them fitted with anything else.

Our correspondent from “Down under” said that the following clip might be of interest to some on here, I for one really liked the classics

Was going to put a VDV up for you Patrick, then again thought better keep the lad in a good mood.
Oily

  ta mate!

Looks like one of the older wagons that they’ve sold last year, can’t make out the fleetnumber though.

Fleet number 242 Patrick.

Cheers Colin, your eyes are much better than mine it seems…

Is black the northern hemisphere livery and white our way, a wise move you won’t believe how hot it can get in a vehicle with black as its colour.
Dig

It is mate, from experience I can tell you that especially the roof gets really hot during a nice and shiny warm day… The wagons from the crane depot and the ones in the 250t and more division all have a white roof, I’m sure that helps keeping it cool a bit!

How did you do that Dig? The full vid was over an hour and included a Buntine (RTA) operation , hence my comment at the head of the list. :open_mouth:

Is this home depot for you Patrick?. All credit to Rab Lawrence for the photo.

It’s HQ, but not where I’m based Oily, my depot is about 45 minutes away, further to the south west mate.

Brand new Scheuerle module trailer on display at the RAI in Amsterdam.

Is that one of those ERF’s in the left corner that’s of interest to some on here?

Wow! You have eagle eyes, pv83! Here indeed is the same scene shot from the ERF stand next door:

It was taken at the 1974 Amsterdam auto rai.

Rowena

Somewhere in Britain; looks efficient!

Well, it was only after I’d zoomed in that I recognised the shape of a NGC to be honest

Going to a shipyard?

You could be right, IIRC My old grandad who drove this old Scammell told me the load was a ships steering gear, , Made at Gateshead , Regards Larry.

Looks heavy enough for that Scammell, did they already had Gardner engines fitted when that pic was taken?

This one turned up behind me at the Hitachi works in Amsterdam, Sitca from Lille (F).
