"Heavy Haulage through the years"

On my Mack at Buntines I had one giant spot like a WW2 searchlight and working from the full beam switch, mounted in the centre of the bullbars. It was a narrow beam and could pick anything out excepting only another vehicle. All you could see was dust then. A very good reason for 20kms distance in convoy.

Is that you on the Crusader? Bet the mother was less than chuffed about her pride and joy perched in such a perilous position. :frowning:

I was thinking the same thing Spardo, but then again, it looks like DIG is giving the wee one a bottle of… Foster’s, so all should be alright I reckon!

I guess one docent always make the right decisions in life but Fosters never.

Dig

Yes indeed, an Aussie comedian parried an attack by Alan Davis on QI on the terrible liquid from Melbourne by saying ‘yes, that’s why we send it all over here.’

This is a 1978 Pacific powered by 19 litre ■■■■■■■ K series motor. It comes complete with 14 foot wide low-loader. Currently for sale in Canada, how much do you think they want for it?

CDN$200,000

Now that would be a great head turner on the classic scene! However, I’m lacking the financial resources to a. buy it in the first place and b. keeping that mighty ■■■■■■■ fuelled up… over to you DIG

Mammoet loading this equipment out of Port Headland today. Presumably out to one of the mines.looks like a mix of Western Star, Mack and MB.Think they’re doing it overnight tonight.
Couldn’t get any better pictures, as the port road isn’t open to the public.
Cheers. Colin.

Good one CW1 wondering if our fearless leader has gone international.
Dig

Ha, yes Dig, that could be his Actros in there!
Colin.

Colin I fear i have done our leader a misjustice as he is already an International transportologist all be it in the Northern hemisphere so he could be a little out of his depth here as I.m not sure if he has experience with a bonnet stuck in front and possibly a gear stick with a little more than A  written on it.   I.ll get me coat and prepare for incoming.

Dig

Great shots Colin, cheers for sharing them on here mate. As for the Actros, I haven’t got anything bad to say about them, other than that the engine was lacking a wee bit of pulling power, it didn’t make any difference if I was running on full weight or being empty… but that in itself is quite a achievement too I reckon…

Never have driven a bonneted lorry out on the road DIG, just had a run with one in the yard and yes that had some thing sticking out with numbers on it, I just suspected it was some sort of mythical code only to be understood by the higher God’s

It’s a Kenworth mate, I’ll see if I can find more details about it.

Ok cheers unusual looking motor ! Almost like a home made cab.

These (12 of them) were parked up at Le Mille Pattes in Angliers (Spardo will know which one it is no doubt ) and were heading to a construction site in Le Roche sur Yon.

Ex armed forces I believe mate

On the A8 between Munich and Salzburg.

This German outfit was waiting to board the ferry, bit unusual to see a low-deck tractor unit coupled to a lowloader.

Some footage from your neck of the woods DIG

Indeed I know it well, Patrick, it did appear to have closed before the pandemic struck so I expect that it is still closed now. Was there any sign of it only being closed temporarily or is it curtains there?

Also, unless by special arrangements in this case, it is unusual for restos’ parking to be open when they are closed. This unfortunate state of affairs is because of the fear of gitanes (gypsies) taking possession. :frowning:

A pic from 1966 with a loco being taken from Govan goods yard in Glasgow. This is loco 123 being taken away for preservation and display in the Glasgow Museum of Transport. It looks like the cranes also came from Pickfords.

A little bit later when it was on it’s way with a Glasgow Corporation Leyland PD2 in attendance.

It was fully opened mate, although they only offered take away meals, but that was the reason why we parked up there too. Haven’t been there for some time to be honest, so I wasn’t aware that it was closed before the pandemic… But as you say, I suspect that a lot of Routiers might stay closed permantly… not really something to look forward to

I might be wrong, as usual, but I reckon it’s a Kenworth M65 with indeed a home made cab.

That is really good news Patrick, I can’t see them opening just for the day if they were not intending to come back when the restos are out of lockdown, like now.

I think it was Franglais who reported it shut down and a week or so later, at a time when it would normally be open, I passed and it was indeed shut. So good news I reckon.

This pic Patrick posted got me curious as to the make and after some comparisons I’m thinking they are Whites.
