Still there David the original was taken 1994ish this photo 1n 2010and we went through that area again in 2014 and its still standing which is more than can be said for the WMC camp.Dig
What was that camper called Dig, an Oka? Have you still got it? I remember you were looking to swap it for a Landy at one point.
Are those spotlights on the Comet, up on the doorposts?

Good spot David I hadn’t noticed them and I can’t say it was the norm when I arrived on the scene other than we tended to mount spot lamps on the cab just below the windscreens we found the lights we were using in those days were a Bull light which could take a 100 watt spotlight globe]bulb] I used 75 watt globes as the other didn’t last long on the corrugations on dirt roads and mounting them on the bull bars certainly jarred them more than the cabs, as the roads improved so did the lights.

On my Mack at Buntines I had one giant spot like a WW2 searchlight and working from the full beam switch, mounted in the centre of the bullbars. It was a narrow beam and could pick anything out excepting only another vehicle. All you could see was dust then. A very good reason for 20kms distance in convoy.
Is that you on the Crusader? Bet the mother was less than chuffed about her pride and joy perched in such a perilous position.

Yes indeed, an Aussie comedian parried an attack by Alan Davis on QI on the terrible liquid from Melbourne by saying ‘yes, that’s why we send it all over here.’

You blokes are all the experts at the different MB models Patrick all i knew when I went to pick it up it was going to be left at the junction of some remote tracks about 100kms further on into the Great Sandy Desert what they didn’t tell me was it they had stripped a set of wheel studs on the rear drive axle and it had been driven in Diff lock for a while making it impossible to remove without an oxy/accetaline kit so loading it proved to be a challenge and resulted in a fair amount of shovel work during the night to get the float as deep and level as possible,as my shovel was already chromed I was considered a somewhat champion of being a 2 legged earthmover.

Mammoet loading this equipment out of Port Headland today. Presumably out to one of the mines.looks like a mix of Western Star, Mack and MB.Think they’re doing it overnight tonight.
Couldn’t get any better pictures, as the port road isn’t open to the public.
Cheers. Colin.

Colin I fear i have done our leader a misjustice as he is already an International transportologist all be it in the Northern hemisphere so he could be a little out of his depth here as I.m not sure if he has experience with a bonnet stuck in front and possibly a gear stick with a little more than A written on it.
I.ll get me coat and prepare for incoming.
