I remember putting strip of rag on my mirrors, you could buy them in truckstops, Juddians right about the mirrors shaking so bad you really Couldn’t see a great deal out of them, especially at night in bad weather. I’ve found polishing the mirror with Rainex keeps the mirror cleaner for longer.

Theres an orange coloured waterless wash thats also good for that, wipe a bit on the mirrors (on coaches a bit on the windscreen where you look at the mirrors as well) and the water rolls off…

Do you remember when we all had strips of rags tied to the mirror arms?
That was today for me. Unfortunately volvo’s don’t have an arm to the top so I had to tie a knot in it and stick it behind the glass. After that it was a simple case of stopping ever hundred miles to wiggle it back up to the top

And did I get the ■■■■ ripped out of me by the older drivers, but I was young, naive and my girlfriend had left me.

Forget the heated mirrors as they always dry bad, I use Rain X on all glass and no matter how heavy the rain gets you can drive with out wipers never mind mirror heaters. Clear vision no matter what.
i remember seeing on tv (tomorrows world?) years ago, some boffin had designed a round truck mirror which spun stupidly fast to throw off the water and dirt. apparently it would stop salt being dried onto the glass in the winter. never sen one in real life though

I seem to recall aftermarket mirrors with electric wipers on?

my dad had a brand new Iveco Eurotech 480 running Italy, first trip nr Switzerland, the wipers started to work by themselves, dad pulled the fuse to stop them, they never did work again.
