A similar incident I attended on recovery still worries me.
It was well outside our patch for a starter, but we pulled up at the road block at 4-5am to ask if it was OK to proceed onto the scene. We were told to wait a few mins for one of the accident investigators to meet us, when he jumped up into the cab he asked us to drive approx 3/4mls to a pool of blood, a rather large pool of congealed blood, so we could spread some granules to mop it up.
This was the point of impact, more blood than I’ve ever seen at an RTC. This bits important I think.
After cleaning that up, we drove another half mile to a burnt out car . . . with a burnt out moped firmly stuck in the front end. I remember thinking that the speed of the impact must have been high, we didn’t bother trying to separate them, just loaded the tangled mess as we found them. I remember looking them over back at the yard, the rear of the bike was firmly embedded in the middle of the front of the car.
It never occurred to me to ask why we’d been called out to a job well outside our contracted area. It happened occasionally for various reasons & I just assumed it was one of those things.
It never occurred to me to ask the investigator if the driver had really drove 1/2 mile after having a massive impact with a moped that was probably on fire for most of it. Strange things happen on recovery & you see something new almost every day.
2 weeks later I read a very small article in that area’s local newspaper about a 16yr old lad killed on his moped on the way home from his GF’s. The driver of the car was a retired police inspector who was treated for shock, which I’m quite sure he managed to recover from.
Always worried me that one.
That is a worrying story…I wonder if there was any outcome/consequence
Speaking as a motorcyclist…That actually more than worries me!
I know that many things are not as they seem, but mansluaghter is a bit too much to take quite honestly!
Nahh, cancel that, I know of threats to children form the Govt. So nothing really surprises me of this Mafia controlled state!
