Parts of M5 in Devon closed after dead body found in road

A section of the M5 heading north out of Devon has been closed after the body of a man was found in the main carriageway near Willand.

The motorway was shut between J29 to Exeter and J27 to Tiverton from about 02:30 BST and Devon and Cornwall Police said it was likely to be shut throughout the afternoon.

Officers said they were not able to say how the man got on to the road but investigations were continuing.

Police are appealing for witnesses.

Truck seized for forensics along with another truck and a car.
3 medics came up to make sure we were ok then later We were taken to Culumpton nick for a brew and loo.
Statements given and then told about the seizure :unamused: .

Work were Brill they were gonna send someone down to pick me up but that would have been pointless as the area was in total gridlock since the Normal diversionary route was also closed being part of the investigation which at the time was possibly related to something else in the area ( not just hell for drivers but a logistical nightmare for HA and D&C police).

All done so I get taken back to the truck to retrieve my kit and we come across a ridged (Euro parts truck ) in a ditch he had gone too far over and hay up over she goes ( we stopped but the guy was ok and didn’t speak a no da Ingalish , so it was called in).

Got my kit had to leave digi in, hay ho I’m totally legal so no worries there and off to catch the train.
(first time on a train in 16 + years :open_mouth: )
Picked up at the station by the duty FLM and was asked where I wanted to go so said work to get me car or I cant get in tonight (sat) they said " no your booked off tonight company wouldn’t allow it" (fair play ).
So last night off , kebab and a beer for tea  , the boss rang and said all’s good with Vosa etc. And was good asking all the usual questions on how I was etc did I want extra time off etc etc etc but I just wanna get back to work so back at it tonight (sun) I’m not one for spinning the line and after the jobs I done in the past what happened don’t really affect me like some.

As for shutting the road for so long if you saw what the copper had to do ( with a torch with extra battery pack) and the area he had to cover you would understand and my hat off to the lad he had almost 3/4 of a mile I would say to walk checking 3 lanes and the HS + centre res and bank for bits, then they have to go through the body for any ID etc on site screens were brought in to allow the southbound to be opened as soon as they practically could.
