Head injury, temp can't drive

Oh life is getting to be fun these days!!
I have just been released tonight after another 11 days in hospital again. A small matter of a chest infection nearly took me this time. I only went to my local practise for an appointment with my respiriatory nurse, she took one look at me, called the GP and they phoned 999. It seems at one point during my first days in hospital I took a turn for the worse and ended up in ICU for 4 days. I am now suspectible to any infection as my lungs are too knackered to cope. Oh Joy

No, we have split, Seth. I am now living up in Lincs near to my sister who is looking after me. After having had several assessments, I have now been declared unfit for work by the DWP and that won’t be reviewed until July 2017 if I am still alive. I have also been awarded PIP. Unfortunately after my most recent spell in hospital the prognosis for my longevity is not good.

Animal, you seemed to have most contact with Chilli … did he ever get his HGV back?

I finally got my car licence back last September but it is not even worth me applying for my HGV. Even if they let me have it back, I am just not fit enough to work. My whole life nowadays is a constant battle just to stay alive. I refuse to bow down to my illness and that is what keeps me going.

Pleased you got you car licence back so at least a bit mobile while I am sadly not atm due to falling out the back of the lorry in aug fractured my ankle ( now have pins in ) ruptured my achillies ( nearly in 3 ) torn ligaments although back on road to recovery long slow process

Hope you had a good christmas & new year here is hoping for a better 2016

animal & The Bear,

Tea time

It’s because I absolutely refuse to give in to this disease, Teatime. It ‘kills’ me at times but I will not bend to it. It is now 18 months since I got taken down and things haven’t really improved. I had the fitting for the CPAP machine and I now call it my mistress … I can’t go to bed without it. I sleep better now than I have for years. I have just finally been told by my cardiologist that they will only need to see me once a year and in about 6 months time they may take the monitor out. I have an enlarged aorta (sp) but there is eff all they can do about it as I am not well enough to undergo an operation. Unfortunately my lungs are screwed … I am very susceptible to infection and ended up in hospital 4 times last year with chest infections which normally put me on my back. Back last January I was admitted and bad enough to end up in ICU for 4 days … I knew nothing about it. Even getting up and walking into the kitchen leaves me breathless. BUT I still refuse to let it beat me.
I went on holiday last year to Cyprus and will be going again in Sep God willing. Over the last 10 months my relationship with my partner has improved greatly and although we still live apart, we are the best of friends and she came on holiday with me last year and looked after me.
If what the consultant told me last Jan is correct then I have another 12 months before I need an undertaker … in the meantime, I am having fun and doing as much as I can manage. That said, I know I have another infection at the moment and have an appointment in the morning so expect to be back in hospital tomorrow :astonished:(
As that saying goes… How the mighty are fallen

Hello Bear :grimacing:
Blimey, i reckon we all need putting down. I do often wonder, (like yourself i’m sure) where it all went wrong, and what we did to deserve this■■?
Sadly the PATHETIC idiots of the DVLA medical board still refuse to give me my lgv licence back. The fight still goes on, and prior to xmas i had another go at getting it. It was the normal shambles of them being as awkward as they possibly could, but they were still sticking to their stance of, “We won’t act further unless you can provide further/new evidence of your fitness to meet our criteria from your GP.”
So after a bit of messing around, my GP contacted them to be told by the exact same medical board, “That they would not except any further info/proof from him, (my GP) THEY would now only act on evidence presented to them from a neuro specialist.”

■■■■■■■ MORONS.

For over a year they point blank insisted it was the whole GP thing, and when he finally agreed to have another go on my behalf, they yet again move the goalposts :smiling_imp: Ironically I have already given them the proof they wanted from a neuro specialist. My neuro specialist wrote to them twice over 16 months ago giving them his medical opinion that i was indeed fit to return to driving LGV’S.
Sadly though, back then, they overuled the opinion of my neuro consultant :unamused:

My MP is dealing with it yet again as even he thinks its ridiculous, so we’ll see. I’ll keep you posted

DVLA will want the scans etc from you consultant & hospital that are 5 min old

I had a similar fight a few years ago but was a little economical

Got the letter back from the DVLA after my MP contacted them, surprise, surprise they have knocked me back again :unamused:

Have they give you any hope of getting it back, chilli?? Or have they give you any indications at all?

Bear, for the past year they insisted they would not act until they had further medical proof from my GP that i fell under this ridiculous 2% seizure risk. My GP contacted them, and now they insist they won’t act until they have further proof from a nuero specialist :smiling_imp:
They are clearly ■■■■■■■ stupid. Continually moving the goalposts, time, and time again to the point it almost feels like direct victimisation.
I’ve just wrote a stinking 8 page letter, that i was about to send but have just found some interesting information that may be helpful, (it may not.) The info is from the minutes of the meetings held by the DVLA medical panel on neuro issues
I need to study it more, then ammend my letter before sending it off to them. My MP still seems to want to help, but again we’ll see.
I’m not giving up, i never will.
