Head injury, temp can't drive

Sadly not mate, small firm and the yard is purely just where they park the trucks. Its half hour from me and would be a bugger to geg to by public transport.

Have you noticed every thing to do with your health, hospitals doctors etc,is allways done in super slow motion, usually in six week blocks or is that what i allways dropped on,i bet your livid and chomping on the bit chilistrucker

You are spot on mate, everything seems to have been a 6 week timescale with medical appointments etc. You know as you’ve been there too, but you kind of get used to having to go with the flow eh mate and i could handle it as there was a light at then end of the tunnel.
Got to admit though this latest thing has knocked me for six, gutted and seething at the same time :smiling_imp: Was ready to throw the towel in Monday as had enough, but since getting the MP involved feeling abit more positive, so fingers crossed.
So had a licence, then lost it due to the injuries, 4 and 1/2 months later get licence back, 2 weeks later lose it again due to dvla overruling my neuro consultant :unamused:

Shame coz i was liking the new job.

The dvla medical board meets every six weeks and 7 x out of 10 they will find fault even if your consultant is the top surgeon in the country.

Stacking shelves, anyhing really just want to earn some money as I hate being on benefits.

Hello mate, sorry to say its been pretty grim.
The nightmares i’ve had with dvla and our local council just go on, and on, and on…
I honestly have tried everything i could think of, and the things other people have advised me to do and yet still got no where, the system really is a joke.
Looks like May 2015 at best for LGV :frowning:
Applied for car licence 4 weeks ago, and have an appointment to go back to my neuro consultant on the 3rd of December, (dvla stipulation) so could maybe■■? have the car licence back this year, we’ll see.

Hit rock bottom a couple of weeks back and ended up collecting up all my dvd’s, blueray films and xbox games, (approx 50 odd) plus my 1 year old Garmin satnav and walked to the town and had to sell the lot in 1 of those poxy exchange shops, got £50 for the lot :frowning:

Oh well, it put food on the table.

Picked up a bit now as i got a job last week as a yard man, keeping everything tidy, washing motors and even scraping ■■■■ out the drains, but its a job, its money and i don’t mind it tbh.

It has been a crap year mate, and you know how it feels. Mind you after watching bits of children in need on Friday i know i have no right to moan or whinge.

Its better than being sat in the house with nowt to do but think bollox and get yourself wound up pal, cant beat talking to people when your out and about, especially the ones who dont know the crack with you so it takes your mind of whats happening in your life, keep us updated m8 with whats going on,i know where your coming from with the money etc,ive just had my fourth wage after living on 72 quid a week for the last 2yr 5month,i was starting to copper up near the end

Know how you feel took me nearly 10 years to get sorted after DVLA took my licence away couldnt even get a job as this was the recession took it toll on my health as well so know where you are coming from

Didnt have a games machine games or dvd to sell should have put on ebay might have gotten more for them

Sorry to here you had to do that

Cheers, Chilli, I now hold no hope of ever getting my licences back. lol I seemed to have spent the whole summer taking one test or another. I have a list of illnesses that would tax the most patient of doctors. For reasons I will explain in a minute, I now have a new GP. They booked me a triple appointment with him for my initial one when they realised the issues I was bringing with me.
First of, I have a heart monitor implanted in my chest to record what is going wrong with my heart.
Then it is now official and I have badly damaged lungs and acute emphysema.
I also have undergone tests as required by my cardio man and respiratory man and it seems I have a wonderful case of Obstructive Sleep Aponea. Even the nurse called me a ‘poor dear’ when she gave me the results. They told me that during the sleep test I woke up an average of 65.3 times an hour!!! That is more than once a minute. In other words I never get to sleep!!! No wonder I am knackered all the time. I go for my CECAP fitting on Dec 17th
The wound on my left elbow that has never healed (after the accident in May) and still weeps? My new GP finally took notice of me, did some tests and had it xrayed. He has referred me to an Orthaepedic surgeon as he is at a loss as to why it is still open and weeping. He has said it may need surgery to investigate as it must have something in there to cause this.
Then as he laughingly asked if there was anything else, I mentioned my hearing in my left ear. It turns out, he is an ENT specialist and had a quick look. Straight away he said to me, I bet you get lots of infections in there to which I said yes. He then said my eardrum is all scarred and pitted. Apparently it is supposed to be lovely and shiny. It has only taken 26 years to get a verdict like that. So after yet more tests, I now find I have only 10% hearing in my left and 60% in my right ears. Off we go to have hearing aids fitted.
Now, I am not going to go into the ins and outs of it but all the stress of this summer (remember my sister dropped dead in June) completely shattered my 15 yr relationship and we have also split up. I know I am a mug but I just walked away with nowhere to go to and am now living in a homeless hostel. I have a room smaller than my bathroom at home with just a single bed and a washbasin and chest of drawers in. Thankfully they have broadband here. When I think back just 7 months ago and I remember a time when I never had a care in the world. I was doing a job I loved, earning damned good money for what I did (pottering around Europe with a tank behind me), never looked at the price when buying something because I could afford most things (I changed my Range Rover for a Mercedes M Class at Easter and paid cash) and I look at me now. I haven’t a pot to ■■■■ in (I refuse to sell my car) and survive barely on £72 a week. Thankfully, I have finally had my assessment this week for PIP (the old DLA) so that should bring some extra money in. I also discovered about 6 weeks ago I can cash my pension in for a lump sum as I have had to retire through ill health. This is a healthy pension so some time in the near future there will be a nice bonus.

It seems a long long way from those days we used to thunder up and down to Villamoura, Quarteria and the like, eh, Chilli?

Nearly as bad as me they took just short of 30 years to find out about my back

It not that bad being partly deaf ( should know as totally deaf in left ear alway have been they will never be able to do anything about it ) you can easy switch off if you need to it is very liveable with

You should apply for a blue badge to park your can ( my dad had one after his heart attack ) they may refuse 1st time as they do with most but appeal against it also apply for what used to be motability which will help

Dont sell your car merc are too nice   I have a clk

You know where I am if you want know what it is like to have loads of test was there a few years ago but at long last you are getting the care you need take care (((((((((((hugs)))))))) xxxx

:open_mouth: :open_mouth: :open_mouth:   Dont know what to say to this bear, sorry pal.

Me too, sorry to hear your story bear, sounds like a horrendous run of bad luck and knock backs, think there are a few of us on here now, we should start a club :grimacing:
Don’t sell your car mate, you’ve worked bloody hard for it, keep hold. The pension sounds like a positive mate, but COUGH don’t tell anyone if you cash it, and don’t put it in the bank COUGH!!!
If i’m right, if you have over 6k in savings the government/benefits won’t give you a penny.
I think its a disgrace, but hey ho, we all know the government is happy to shaft you in any way it can.

I was back in the hospital with my consultant last week filling out the dvla questionaire, all went exactly as it did at the end of August, and the consultant said he would tell the dvla for the 2nd time, that in his opinion i am fit to drive. Fingers crossed i may soon have my car licence back, it would be a result pn what has been a pretty crappy year.

You are right Bear, the good trips, and the good weekends in Portugal do seem a bit of a distant memory right now, but hopefully things will change for the better.

Dont sell that car it is too nice & too much of a life line

As said apply for what used to be Disability living allowance & motability also a blue badge

Think if you have savings of more than 16k you dont get anything
