Hawkins' New FH sees hills ahead

Has anyone tried a truck with ‘I-See’ in real life yet?

Does it actually work?

Well if you don’t like it don’t look at it…but about 10,000 people looked at it last month, so it can’t all be bad!

Cool… No offence but it looks like a kid designed it and the news “stories” are just not news… Volvo announced this feature on its launch… Well over a year ago

Not driven Volvo’s version but Scanias (about the same thing) on the other hand. I felt useless, that’s how good it works. Only thing is I would love to be able to set the retarder speed a bit higher. Think max was 90 or 92km/h.

Ask the dealer to do it, if you press the hill hold button a few times, I could set the one I had to 2mph increments from 56mph up to about 65mph.

They did, and we covered it at the time, as evidenced if you follow the hyperlink on the page.

I was just interested to know if anyone had tried this system in the ‘real world’. When the press are given trucks to try they usually have to follow a route set by the manufacturers…which isn’t really the best test of the system.

If anyone can say how well (or otherwise) I-See functions in everyday work, I’m sure lots of people would be interested to know.
