I had this yesterday, and many time before. They see you overtaking and suddenly they power up the warp drive and leave you in the outside lane like a complete and utter numpty If they wish to go at that speed on a dual carriageway/motorway (in good/dry weather) then fair play, i dont have a problem with that. But let other people over take dont just speed up leaving us high and dry then slow down 1/2 mile further up
And then some cars, when they overtake you, they indicate but seem to be waiting to be “flashed in” WHY when i limited to 60mph and you can do 70mph (legally)
I can tell you WHY car drivers do this and the THINKING they use when it happens.
When a car driver is using their right foot to control the accelerator on a long motorway journey, it starts to get tired and very slowly, without the driver noticing, starts to release pressure of the accelerator.
They then start to get overtaken by a truck and it is at this point that they finally decide to LOOK at their speedo - “oops I’ve slowed down!, I had better increase my speed to where it was earlier” - car driver does just that and leaves truck driver looking to pull back in again.
Wayne:
‘…What happens when you move over to overtake? they speed up…’
Where’s the snag with mirror, signal & manouevre back to lane one …or the shortest of a headlight flash as you approach the two second space behind them?
The latter saves an LGV needlessly being in lane two since we can pretty much be sure that:
a. His car can go faster b. He aint a professional driver …and we are! c. Numb-nuts doing his regulation ‘55-ish’ norm has gardening or a hospital appointment on his mind rather than prioritise his rear-view d. More folk will start behaving this way since fuel consumption is invariably improved for them
These numpties really need teaching how to drive
I have noticed more and more car drivers doing 45-50mph on motor ways to its just bloody ridiculous! One last week doing 52 I approached and went to overtake and the ■■■■■■■■ sped up and then sat at same speed as me right at head of my cab I got relly pee’d off and blasted my horn at him and he turns around and calls me a ■■■■■■■■■ The bloody cheek, would loved to of followed him off the motorway and tell him why I was blasting and why he got the finger but it was thursday and I wanted to get done for the weekend, plus I may of ended up being arrested for battering him if he had carried on with the hand gestures in my face the thick ■■■■■
i let them do it the first time because as rog has explained it might just be a simple mistake and they have dropped thier speed in error, the second time if they wait until i get level with them they get a flick of the indicator and a slight turn of the wheel in thier direction, its amazing how many do ■■■■ off when you nearly put them under the wheels of 44tonnes. they soon learn

Not just that, how many times do you find they are on the phone for the 15 minutes its taken you to crawl past, then hang up, realise they are going so slow and speed up and undertake you just as your about to move back left leaving you getting the abuse from the 3 mile tailback your inconsiderate driving caused.

Talking to a passenger or singing along to a song can have the same effect as both are distractions which can cause the right foot to ease off for a while - until full concentration is resumed.
Is it just me or are we all having to spend more and more time in lane two of the motorways overtaking cars driving running at less than 90ks.dont seem the safest way to travel with a family.

i point blank refuse to move over at sliproads for cars or vans unless they are being held up by a truck
i will move over for a truck where possible (slow car drivers again)
its soo bad up here that folk struggle to overtake trucks when they are in thier cars, ■■■■■■■■ it if you did 60 you could get passed the truck no problem,
i wonder where we would stand if a car crashed into us if we had just overtaken it and started to pull in but the car driver put the foot down so they didnt have to sit behind us?
They are all “plastic truckers” and they get a semi-on when you flash your trailer indicators left-right-left at them when they flash you in and so naturally I never do that.
Well I’m now a coach driver (don’t hate me too much lol) and they do it to us too only I can’t show my usual rage as I have 65 people watching my every move lol. It was good in the truck 'cause I usually just indicated then just moved right over making them ■■■■ a brick. ■■■■ 'em all.
On another note… It’s great blasting past you all at 100km/h
I’m limited to 50mph and the amount i pass is unreal. I can understand them going slow when its a bit congested and busy but i’m passing them in very light traffic conditions.
