Having Another NONE Driving Job? Illegal?

It’s that time of the year. I could do with some extra money, and got the weekend. But wondering would getting another job, e.g. Security, FLT or even them ■■■■ Dominos aren’t paying to badly near me, be considered infringing on my rest, or is it not applicable? Maybe I find betting teens or stacking shelves soothing?

Ask yourself “while I’m doing extra work am I resting?” … You’re welcome

I think some people have trouble tying up shoelaces .

Do whatever you want, get enough rest but keep your mouth shut!

+1
But if you work for Dominoes using your own car or bike, don’t forget to insure it properly (for business use) or you might as well not be insured at all.
So probably not worth doing, unless they are paying for it.

I once ordered a pizza from Dominos via my phone now all I get is bloody texts from them offering me jobs delivering pizzas! If it wasn’t for the fact that my acne has long since gone and I don’t drive a lowered Saxo I’d be tempted.

Personally, I should just get your weekend job if you after a bit of extra cash for Christmas and not mention it to anyone you work with during the week. I know people will spout rules on here, but shopping, gardening, decorating, looking after kids etc at weekends could hardly be called rest, but are things most of us do. For me I run a couple of small internet ventures too and I know many drivers who have weekend stalls on markets or have involvement with relatives businesses… Don’t worry about it and just do what you have to do.

Dominoes put you on their own business policy to cover your car. I’ve seen what they pay and you could be better off doing that over some truck jobs but alas I don’t think you can get 75 plus hours there a week.

This. The madness of it is that I can go up the massive radio tower at Octon and on the top platform to my left do some work on the amateur radio antenna and that’s perfectly legal but turn to my right and do the same work on the commercial VHF trunk repeater antenna which is my mate’s system and which he’d pay me for doing results in me breaking the law in regards of weekly rest.

Its interesting that under GB domestic rules there was no weekly rest but you had to take a lot longer daily rest which to me is more important than a large chunk off at one end of the week for safety.

Yea they do but it’s 3rd party only so if you have a bump and its your fault they will not pay out for your car

I know I was just answering martinvikking post about the covering yourself for business/commercial use.

For one thing any extra work will be taxed heavily unless your self employed so its probably not worth it. Secondly I don’t know how hard the VOSA guys would dig in to your back ground if you had a nasty bump… if it came to light you are working seven days a week be ready for a stay in one of her majesty’s hotels.

Someone has said “I know people will spout rules on here” so I will, but only because if you want to decide whether or not to break the rules you should know them, when it comes to regulations that could potentially stop you continuing in your chosen career (though extremely unlikely  ) only complete morons randomly break rules they don’t understand, and as you’ve asked the question [would it] “be considered infringing on my rest, or is it not applicable?” I assume you don’t know where you stand legally.

Any work done on your days off will be counted as other work for the EU regulations, so unless you can do the extra work and still have the required weekly rest it’s not legal, never was and most likely never will be.

Now you know where you stand legally you should be able to make an informed choice, personally if I wanted the money I’d do what Pimpdaddy said, but what you do is your choice

it’s not really madness though, is it? there’s a difference. plus anyone with a bit of nouse can do what they want with minimal risk of any come back

you don’t have to take a longer daily rest on domestic, it’s quite possible to take a shorter one as i have done plenty of times

It may also be Interresting that under those Domestic Rules, there is no minimum lenght of rest. You can take those 13 hours daily rest in any increments during the 24 hours… you can work 4 hours, sent home for 3, back in for three hours, sent home for 1 hour, back in for 1 hour, back home for4, back in for 2, back home for 5, back in for 1 hour, and home for 2 hours.

7 days a week…

fill your boots.
