Driving down the A1 yesterday afternoon i noticed on the opposite carriageway a Nedexco truck parked up and at first glance it looked like the truck had caught fire as smoke was rising from near the rear axles on passenger side on the unit, but as I got closer i saw i’m guessing driver and co - driver were standing right next to the ‘fire’ and appeared to be laughing and joking, so i’m assuing they were having a bbq and using the truck as a wind break. Because if my tyres were smoking like that i wouldnt be standing next to them as i passed the truck i saw a traffic cop racing down the road blue’s and two, i wonder if he’d had a phone call about a BBQ in progress, procceed with ketchup.
has anyone done this and had the fire bridge pull up behind them short while later to join the bbq , as anyone passing and not noticing the 2 men standing next to the unit would probably of thought it was on fire.

Im sure those Nedexco trucks have little kitchens built into their trailers, between the legs and the axles a flap opens which makes a table and all the cooking gear is inside. Might not be Nedexco but ive seen trucks like that.
A few years ago a few of us who ran together used to have a disposable BBQ on the back of the Car Transporter ( empty) in Cherwell Services, the Police only came over once and just said make sure you put it out properly, at which point we offered them a hot dog, we used to do it most Monday nights in the summer and just take it in turns to provide the BBQ.
Made it a great sociable evening.
Any driver that used to be on International work will be able to tell you many a tale of trailer cooking and you’d probably get some pretty decent recipes to lol!
I carry a foldable BBQ in my bag, it folds down to the size of a medium maglite and really isn’t heavy, like this one but the newer ones come with a circular plate/bowl type thing to go below and put the coals in.
Easily cooks enough for 2/3 people and always in the bag if I need it!
I was weekended in Italy with half a dozen S&K lads, they had an upturned IBC cage with a wire basket hung underneath. This cooked the food beautifully and after the embers died it was converted into a beer table
If it was Nedexco they were probably Barbecuing shark steak, and very, very fresh shark steak at that.
Had many a barbecue over the years in various truck stops and service areas round Europe. I parked in Jabbeke on Monday evening and the truck next to me from Turkey had a barbecue going.

A couple of years ago,I was parked up in a lay-by on the A9 near Perth. Was cooking a couple of pork chops on one of those disposable bbq thingies.Plod pulls in behind me and came to check everything was ok.They’d had a couple of reports from passing motorists that there was smoke coming from under the truck
