Have you been given the Total cost?

WE have had a number of people come to us who have taken their LGV Cat C test, and found they can’t drive legally because their initail provider failed to tell them they need to complete the initial CPC.
It would appear some, not all, providers are only giving the practical training costs to potential trainees, to make it appear cheaper.

If you are in the process of getting quotes for training, please ensure you get the total costs involved, which may include some or all of the below, depending on your circumstances.

Medical fee
Theory Test fee
Hazard Perception Test fee
CPC part 2 - test fee
CPC part 4 - test fee
Practical training days cost
Practical Test Fee

Any queries, I’m sure will be answered on this forum, or please feel free to contact us

CPC part 4 - test fee
Practical training days cost

Does that include the cost of the mod 4 training and hire of vehicle ?

Well, there you go then Rog, another cost, if not included within the Practical training like ours is.
Had someone in this morning, been driving for an agency for last month, they have only just realised he needs CPC and hasn’t done it.
There seems too many instances for this to be the odd one off.

There are also many forces personnel who drive in civvy street not realising they need DCPC because the forces have not told them

Be carefull of the brokers, they won’t tell you anything about cpc.Only once you have paid for the practical training.
Being a complete noob to it all,i booked all my training with a broker, there was know mention of cpc untill i had paid.

They should all be shut down :imp:

All our fees are carefully explained and confirmed in writing at the back of our brochure which is emailed or posted to anyone who requests it.

I believe we’re all grown adults and I wouldn’t insult anyone’s intelligence by only giving half the story.

We have also had people come along who having been driving without the driver cpc - one last week had been driving since 2010!

It’s the easiest thing ever to mislead someone by only giving the price for the course. Shame about the medical, theories, VAT and test fees!

I would challenge anyone to call us for a price and see if I’m telling the truth. (In the middle of writing this I’ve just gone through the whole thing with someone on the phone).

Pete

We try to find out a person’s exact personal circumstances before quoting an inclusive price. This is done either over the phone or preferably, if they have the provisional, during an assessment drive. Only then do we provide a price tailored to their individual needs.

Some have already passed the medical and / or theory tests, some dont need the CPC at all (ie personal horsebox driving), some need less training than others, some need initial CPC & others periodic CPC training, some only want Cat C etc etc. It is impossible to provide a 1 price fits all approach so everyone must be treated individually and priced accordingly.

Students absolutley hate paying for a course only to find there are hidden extras afterwards.

Good luck to everyone testing next week.

And that is exactly how it should be.All you get with a broker is "oh yes mate,i can garantee you will be on at least £23000 a year, maybe more"no mention of paying for your medical or anything about CPC.Untill you have paid them the £1120.
Sorry about the little rants, just annoyed i went with a broker
