Everywhere I go know I seem to get stuck behind Stobart’s drivers dragging their heels, have they limited their speed or is it just a fuel bonus/extra hours thing?
It’s likely, I know Maritime have. They’re limited to 52 because it supposedly saves fuel, so I imagine Stobarts have too.
Have you heard of a maneuver called overtaking

I think many companies still limited to 52 claim it to be a safety feature rather than a fuel saving feature now to be honest, the idea being 52 encourages a culture of taking it easy & not tear arsing around.
Make of that what you will.
I doubt Stobarts have lowered the limiters, more likely had a push on fuel efficiency & drivers think they can up their scores by going slower. Truth is, demonstrate a good level of anticipation and smart manipulation of momentum & the scores will take care of themselves without going on a go-slow.
stobarts have not limited the trucks yet,but it may surprise many here that not all stobart drivers pound the tarmac racing trains day in day out…some see the futility of an hourly paid driver cutting his wages by sitting on the limiter all day.
stobart abolished the fuel bonus last year,i guess too many drivers were hitting the target too often and they would have to pay the bonus on the average holiday pay they were forced screaming into paying.
rumour has it that this years pay deal may include drivers NOT hitting fuel bonus figures may get pay docked.
the fuel bonus carrot and stick has had the carrot removed…just the stick soon?

If there was no limiter on it, he wouldn’t have been behind you for long…
No limiter change, but they’ve just been round reminding everyone how to drive efficiently (no warming up the engine in thee morning, 100% cruise control etc).
They took away our fuel bonus and put the money in the hourly rate (to save the company money), now they’re bringing back the fuel bonus monitoring system as they’re loosing money on the fuel bill.
Above post is correct. It’s looking increasingly likely that the previous pay system will be re-adopted.
The lads at Appleton are even getting mithered to drive the trucks manually to keep in the green band!
No just having a moan about the fuel bill since they took the bonus away. There are now starting to send drivers who are bad on fuel on the safed driving course. This year they want to put the fuel bonus back in place but not to dock wages.I would think if they docked wages for using to much fuel there would be a big can of worms opened.I dont know any driver that would allow that to happen in any company.

You jest… Most drivers, especially at the big companies, will simply bend over and take it a little deeper.

Yes you ■■■■ I have and do so at the earliest and safest convenience…
Thanks for the replies guys, I guess it is the dragging the hours out (not a crime) that I am encountering. I remember a few years ago doing a shift for them for Tesco and asking if I had to stick to 50 as Tesco do and the assessment guy told me they tried that and it did not save the company any money.

Smooth. I’m sure you do overtake at the earliest opportunity. After sitting about 6 inches from the back doors of the vehicle in front for the preceding miles.
I hope you make the appropriate handsignals when you đrive past.

No I I leave a good gap and then overtake at the nearest and safest opportunity, giving the required hand signal as I past his cab window
Unless I’ve got a ■■■■ good reason to get finished and home then generally I set my cruise to 50-52mph and let everybody pass me, I find it far more chilled and less stressful to just toodle along.
I’m paid by the hour, and there’s a clue in my username!
Yes, I work for them.
