Hey up Chris ,
Your post is correct pal.
Heard you called and asked for your job back mate. Hope so, it’ll be nice to see you back mate
As for calling me a billy-■■■■■■■■■■■ reubs ,
Wind ya neck in.
If it ain’t for you fine. Leave the name calling to the children
Hello there Gijays but don’t know your name? like you know mine,it’s nice to know someone agreeing with what I’ve said.As for asking for my job back text Rich in office 3wks ago so I think still waiting for reply!think I burnt my bridges there too much of not keeping quiet. As anyone knows me from peckover not afraid to go head to head with top mangement.
Hey up Chris , it’s me jay.
I doubt you burnt your bridge pal. Your a cracking driver and there is nothing wrong with opening your mouth mate. I’m sure they are just clearing Xmas . I will have a word with Scott for you pal.
I know it’s not the best but as u know every place has its ups and downs . I’m happy here and after working in a few other places find this place much more laid back. I know it was ■■■■ when the office was run by Damian but now it’s spot on.
It’s a shame about some of the drivers who don’t give a ■■■■ . We had one come in last week and screw the trailer round. Hitting a trailer and lifting it off the floor only then to reverse into another.
People keep harping on about staff turn over , can you blame them when all they do is smash everything up or take the wrong loads or take fore ever to do a job. One guy even fell asleep for 2 hours the other day.
Good drivers are hard to come by and as you know mate, a good reliable lad here does not have a problem and can actually have a enjoyable time.
I hope you are back soon Chris, I’m sure u will be mate.

I’m not quite sure who you think you’re talking to. Until such point as you can argue with some rather substantially decent answers, I’d suggest you refrain from getting on your high horse and attempting to take the moral high ground, by belittling me and telling me to “Leave the name calling to the children”. It’s clear that you’re full of ■■■■. Mr Gill has just given the company a good slagging off, and you offer to see if you can get him his job back? Outstanding effort. You didn’t even have a single valid argument against him.
Let me ask, are you suggesting that the reason Peckover Transport can’t get any decent drivers is entirely because it is full of rubbish ones? You would quite possibly be the first person I have ever heard of to argue this point. There’s many of reasons that companies can’t get decent drivers, and I’m afraid to say, I very much doubt your point is one of them.
Tell me, Gijays, how does one go about the legal implications in regards to working all the hours god sends with 6 nights out? I’m not claiming to be an expert in the transport industry, but last time I checked, that was not possible.
Rumour has it, you left your beloved Peckover Transport yourself, only to work for Walkers Transport. How did that go about? I’m guessing in the end, not so well. Rumour also has it that when you returned to Peckover Transport, you joined the jolly office staff? The only thing people really remember about any of that is you complaining time after time because you weren’t getting your own way.
So, just to put it out there, unless you’ve actually got anything true to say, then don’t bother. You’re not making the company sound any better with lack of thought, and what you’re saying.
Yes mate, thanks for that.
Ok Jay hows tricks? Been hearing about all the comings and goings heard set alot of new drivers on,most of them with little or no driving experience.
Hey up Chris , it’s true pal. Not sure about the experience, some are ok but I doubt a fair few would last mate.
I reckon the jan will be a repeat of last jan but we will see mate.im moving back to Barnsley in feb so maybe me too. Ill give you a call tommorrow for a chat pal.
- I don’t have a valid argument because I have not come on here to argue.
- I haven’t or can I get Chris his job back? But as a good friend who was sad to see him go , I will speak to some one and bend there ear a bit. Why wouldn’t I ?
- beloved Peckover?? The only beloveds I’m my life are my family.
- I left peckover 10 years ago to go to macfarlanes ( not walkers). I worked for walkers after macfarlanes went bust.
5 ) walkers turned out fine. A good set of lads, days only and half decent pay.
6 ) I have done 6 nights out, no one said it was always in the cab. I have done Ireland a few times and have also been put up in B and B . I have been paid overnights for every one of the nights I was away from home even on rest. - jolly office. I did the fortec system early doors for a while. A deal I made to stay on days and finish earlier for a stint due to circumstances at home. After the 2 hours every morning doing this, I loaded my own vehicle and did multi drop. My choice.
getting my way? I doubt I or anyone else here can get there way but sometime if your not happy you speak to someone. It don’t get better if you don’t I’m afraid. I don’t sprout off or sulk, I , just like most people won’t accept having the ■■■■ taken out of me that’s all.
I hope I’ve answered all your questions. I’m not here to defend any company. In my eyes most , if not all have problems. The thing is it suits me fine , it’s pays my bills well and I enjoy it more than the other jobs I have had.
I’m just a class 1 driver and nothing more. Believe me, if the opportunity arrives to better myself both job or career I will change in a heart beat.
That’s enough for me now, I can’t be arsed with this bickering so I’m done here.
Good luck and merry Christmas
Well… I have actually left Peckover Transport as of Saturday after only 2 weeks of working there, It was a really good job with loads of training and I really enjoyed it but they wanted me to pay £625 excess if I had any sort of accident and were only paying £7 per hour and they push you to the very limit of your driving hours. Subsequently I got a call on Friday last week from another Haulage firm who operate class 2 vehicles who are gonna pay me a salary of £20’000pa with a new class 2 unit and when they sleep out they stay on Premier Inns and give you £30 per night out, the offer was too good to refuse to be honest although I would have liked to train up on the class 1 vehicles a bit more. Hope I dont live to regret my decision■■?

stay well clear of this company
I have to say Peckover treated me very well during my time their and I would recommend them to anyone who wants class 1 experience. I have heard all the horror stories about them but I can only tell it as I see it and I found them a good company.
You do realise that if you get £30 night out it can be taxed the limit is £29.50
Good luck with the new job

I believe it’s only the extra bit that’s taxable i.e 50p which would attract 11p tax. Not enough to worry about.
Good luck with the job.
Pete
Cheers for the advice mate, Ive been unemployed for the last year so my tax rate will be non existant for the 1st year anyway but after that I may tell em to reduce my rate to £29.50…every penny helps…B}
No, you’ve missed the point! You’ll get £29.50 tax free + 50p minus tax on the 50p. Why turn down the remaining 39p? Doesn’t seem much but it mounts up over a year.
Good luck with it,.Pete
