Just wondered does anyone know if i have any chance of being able to get continental work. I have only passed my test just over a year ago. I can only seem to get supermarket delivery work.I live in Herts
Well, as the old saying goes, if you don’t ask, you won’t know!!
A lot of firms want at least 2 years experience but others are not so picky… have a look thro the rest of the posts on this section and you will find there are some jobs posted on there.
But if you are going to do European work, then you have to be prepared to be away from home a lot more than if you’re only working UK. Unfortunately, not all European work gets you home every weekend and some companies ask that you are prepared to be away maybe 3 weeks at a time. Remember that it doesn’t really matter where you live when doing Euro work as you aren’t home a lot anyway lol. I recently went over to Ireland to try and find Euro fridge work.
Hello Nigel,
Although continental work is rather thin on the ground at the mo, you could get a job doing it if you were prepared to travel to work, and be away for a couple of weeks at a time.
I suggest you look around east Kent, and specifically around Dover. Husk and Sealane have both been advertising of late. Mike Beer are worth approaching too.
Usual disclaimer applies,
Vince
Hi Nigel,
If you don’t get any luck with the British firms, try the Irish companies. A lot of them employ England based drivers.
Cheers, kenny
Kenny, I have been trying the Irish frims with no success… even came over to see if it would do any good.
Thanks for your help, I will give some of the company’s mentioned a try
a bloke i work with has applied to pulleyns reading there looking for drivers at the mo hes got no euro experience but they said if he had 2 years driving he would be ok .i suppose you could tell a little white lie about your experience but you mustnt have a criminal record because alot of there work is carrying pharmaceuticals and you can be away for upto 4 weeks.but they do employ from all over the uk
