I’m 72, led the life I wanted to, never subscribed to a fitness regime, nor dieted. Drunk a few pints every week, and now walk two miles every day with my dogs. Diagnosed asthmatic two years ago, but controlled by inhalers. Life is good, and I hope it may continue for another few years. So, my advice? Live the way you want to, not what somebody else tells you!
+1
id be somewhat similar though a bit younger…im reading this as im eating bacon eggs toast coffee etc…eat what you want, and die when your ready works for me.my diet is abysmall with fryups and takeaways, fortunately ive never been in a hospital,or had a thing wrong with me sofar, and im too old to care. the hospitals and cemetarys are full of healthy eaters and excercise freaks.when your times up, its up…a lifetime regime may give you in theory a cpl extra years, but you dont get those extra years when your 21 years old and boning anything that moves ,partying the night away etc…you get them when your lying in a care home sucking mush up through a straw waiting on someone to change your nappy,no doubt in a lot of cases just wanting not to wake up the next morn.so everything in moderation, and live and eat what normally suits you.ive had labradors from the same litter and basically identical, one died at 7 from bowel cancer, the other i got put to sleep at 15 as he was just past his sell by date and was worn out completely so it was a kindness.theres no reason as to why 1 was living twice as long as the other…were all on borrowed time.
My dad used to say to me “when you’ve been dead for 100million years, you won’t have been dead for half as long as you’re going to be”, he was a happy soul, died when he was 48 from lung cancer, I was 16.

As i’m the big 50 this year i treated myself to one of these all dancing all singing medicals where you are tested for just about everything, well all the results and there was a lot of them come back spot on except one which was the PSA test which as older folks would know as the prostate test so now iv’e been referred to the specialist which will be Thursday, so in answer to your post yes i did have a good look at myself.
3.9 by the way and i’m 49.
I was told by a specialist that anything under 3 is pretty much ok, so you’re not far from that but the big thing is having it tested regularly to see how it’s trending - my father in law had 22 but it was brought down and kept under control with drugs and he went on for another fifteen years like that until he died of an unrelated illness.
I have my PSA checked regularly but when I try to get my mates to go I get shrugs of indifference - it really is important - prostate cancer when ignored is a killer. Left too late it’s game over.
I don’t want to sound patronising but you have so done the right thing having a thorough checkup so’s you can stop things before they start.
Hope everything goes ok tomorrow.
I’m here waiting now to see the Doc, it’s a bit like an RDC no one talking, you get here on time and they still make you wait.
Well had the Male Doc stick his big finger up the marmite avenue and it’s definitely enlarged
he’s recommending I have a biopsy but not keen so will take a day or two to think about it. Got to say I was taken back by how serious the Doc took it, I thought or rather hoped he would say there’s no need for you to be here bye bye, so over to me to get the courage up to book the biopsy in.
What’s to think about? He’s a doctor not some rdc bellend trying to wind you up. Get it checked ffs, if it’s clear then happy days, if not get it fixed, the earlier the better. Look at it this way, how will you feel if you do nothing and it all goes pear shaped in 6 months. You don’t get a second go at this you know.

Sounds like it’s already pear shaped, draw backs are erectile dysfunction, infection, urinary retention, bleeding etc etc that’s what I’m thinking about.

I can see your point, are they better or worse than death?
Right Bald Bloke get yourself seen to.I had a referral a couple of years ago and got the all clear. You will have to take a strong laxative then with your bowel empty they will put in an airline to inflate your inards after that up goes the endo scope .It really is quite painless when I had mine I was able to see my insides a bit like an early Dr.Who episode.Ifound it quite amusing when the nurse told me thatthe air would just come outin the normal manner,it sure did.!
If you were taken aback at how seriously the doctor took it then in my opinion you’ve nothing to think about. Time can be critical in health, go get it sorted Bald Bloke!
Ok everyone will get one booked in it’s just that it does come with risks.
In most procedures they will offer a mild sedative to relax the patient, somebody must drive home after, as driving is slightly impaired.
Respect to Billy Hunt’s last comment,it kinda puts it in perspective.
Fair play to you Bald Bloke and there’s nowt wrong with telling whoever you see that your worried about the risks I’m sure they’ll tell you what’s what eh.
All the best for good news.

Good! Everything comes with risk, it’s just a case of looking for the reward. Positive mental attitude, I look forward to hearing good news shortly.
