Hauling coal to Newcastle?

Seriously, since the mines are closed, does anybody actually take coal to Newcastle??

i once took took coal from Rugeley colliery to the homefire plant in Keresley an hours drive…because the coal mined in Coventry colliery (2 minutes drive) was the wrong sort

About 4 or 5 years ago my dad loaded pallatized coal somewhere in the German Ruhr region for Newcastle. When the office told him, it took him a while to take them seriously!

Similar deal.

I collected 17 rolls of linoleum to deliver to Cowdenbeath, not far from Kirkcaldy. As you will probably know, Kirkcaldy was one of the main centres for the manufacturing of  Linoleum. (Actually I think it was invented by Mr Nairn, of Kirkcaldy, but I’m not 10% sure).

I regularly take reefer containers of apples down to Asford in Kent, for them to be sent back up country again by normal fridge trailers to the supermarkets, or Frozen Fish to Fleetwood or Grimsby for the same treatment. Maad :open_mouth:

I really like this thread, thanks Alexx The only thing that comes to mind is the hundreds of race horses I have taken to Newmarket!
