Hauliers with Moffett's on 6/8 wheeler curtainsiders

I’m struggling a bit with finding hauliers who are ideally South West Based who operate rigid lorries with moffet’s on the back.

I have loads to go from Devon to all over the UK, as a full load one way, but a lot of the places have access restrictions meaning an artic is a no go. The product also has to be offloaded with a forklift into farm yard type environments.

Can anyone give me any pointers of companies running such outfits? Doesn’t have to be a curtainsider, flatbed is ok as well.

Thanks in advance

S M Davies based in Welshpool mate could be a good option to try!

Wincanton have a few, but most ones are either own account or on contract to brick/roof tile companies.

Don’t know if its any good or not but I know for a fact that Cartwrights here in Lincoln run a few rigid 6 wheelers with Moffetts on the back. Might be worth a call.

Yes; the problem with Moffetts on general haulage rigids is of course that the 2/3 tonne weight penalty of the FLT means that by and large they’re not viable, hence you tend to see them mostly on own account stuff.

However, the recent move by some pallet companies to restrict weights to 750 kg/pallet for tail-lift deliveries may open up a gap in the market; but I suspect it may still remain a specialised field.

OP might do worse than to speak to someone like Mole Valley Farmers and find out who they use as subbies, if any.

Could the product be hiab’d on and off?
Just a though with more options.

We run them on wagon and drags, but if we ever need to send just the 6 wheeler with Moffett, payload is barely 11 tonne. We seem to be able to get hauliers with artic Moffetts, but rigid, or even W&Ds are like hens teeth.
