Hauliers Chuchdown Glos area

Anyone know if D Griffiths or family still operate trucks and quarries in the Gloucestershire area? i drove an old bonetted Dodge without power steering for a while with his company a very long time back and used to run gravel out of a quarry near Cirencester. Graduated to a Chinese Six before quitting for the States. If I recall, his trucks were green; he either owned or maintained Concrete trucks used by a company in Cheltenham. His workshop foreman was named Claude and I think it was his sister who used to hand out job sheets. Somebody on this site said Griffiths could be difficult. That I do remember clearly.
Finished my driving career with a Peterbilt Semi driving hook up all over the USA and Canada. I still hang around guys with some really neat vintage trucks and get to drive one now and then.

Hi welcome to trucknetuk go on mid wales and borders put question on there you will get an answer hope that helps cheers John

Blimey that’s going back a fair few years, if I recall he sold out to HTS and then restarted at Staverton going under the name of Cheltenham Commercial Services, I’m pretty sure they became Renault Truck dealer also, the yard has houses built on it now although their 2 big detached houses only got demolished fairly recently, if you can remember the chip shop by the yard entrance it is still trading, old boy just up the road from me worked for Don Griffiths in the 60s, Welshmen called Bill, cant recall his last name, I do know a couple of lads who worked for him after he moved out of Churchdown, Don Griffiths died a few years ago, will try & get more information for you.
