Fixing power lines - without switching the power off - has got to be one of THE most dangerous jobs in the entire world.
“Key Workers” everywhere, might want to spare a thought to those who REALLY put their lives on the line every day of their working lives.
Just as much danger going to and from work for these folks as well.
RIP.

It’s a bit more complicated than just fixing a line without turning off the power.

Relying on the helicopter to stay in the air is probably the more dangerous bit.

Pffft my brother walks the third rails near every other night of the week, amongst live tracks, with the overheads still juiced [emoji16]
Just gotta hope that dave in the office remembered to hit the kill switch for the 3rds…
if not, well there’s always the chance of a good slap off a freightliner, squashed by the plant, the snap from a bolt off the overheads, trees falling on you, oooor tripping an breaking ya neck in the dark 4mile up the line, alone, animal attacks, showered in filth, landslides, infections galore, let alone the physical graft… [emoji38]
All for ■■■■ all over about 10 squid an hour, so these boys above have nowt to worry about really, it’s either a long drop or sharp unknown shock, their risk to reward ratio is blinding compared to a subbed out navvy over here [emoji849][emoji38]
Cracking job though, especially if you get on those monsters they have in China, some cracking views, and I should think not too shabby a pay check either [emoji106]

I am working currently on motorways driving an Impact Protection vehicle or crash cushion. We are called out at anytime of the day or night, come rain, snow, fog or setting sunlight to protect other recovery vehicles working to rescue broken down vehicles in Free Recovery Zones while roadworks take place. All you truckers and other drivers… please give us a thought, give us a little room to do our work as you thunder past our mirrors with an inch to spare. We want to return home to our families just like you guys do.
Live power cables pffft …
Try dodging fork trucks at spittlefields market on a Sunday night …
That’s taking your life your life in your own hands
