No probs - it’s a long way north from you! Near Swinton, on the A6 north west of Manchester. Once upon a time, Nuttall’s main business was Chloride/Exide Batteries out of Swinton, and they had an international trailer business called Nuttall Eurolink, set up in the late 1960s. They operated a fleet of Atkinsons in those days.
In the early 70s they went for a livery that was an acquired taste - blue cab front and bright orange roof and sides. I’ve a feeling that they were initially sold to the rather rascally Renwick Freight Group (remember the beaver logo) before Haselden bought them.
I met William Nuttall (jr) the other week at Croston - he’s a member of the club now - did you know that 240?

I knew you’d pop up here soon! And no, I didn’t know that. S’pose you already know that Alan Atkinson’s Silver Knight, PTD 190G, was new to Nuttall?
Yup - I believe it was you that told me.
Have you got a microphone for your PC?
But i’ve seen some orange trucks with just Nuttalls on and some with Haselden Nuttall.!
Would some be on contract to different companies that would prefer to have their goods shifted by a certain named company??
It’s a bit confusin’
Aren’t they something to do with Swains now? I only ask because we take carbon black in to their place in Swinton, and have noticed a lot of HN’s ex-units and tauts in there - the shunter is in HN colours.

The orange Nuttall wagons are from the fleet of James Nuttall from Rochdale - different company, run Scania now, but used to be all ERF.
Swains are a pretty big firm now so they could be Lucy. They were just up the road from Haseldens in Strood a few years ago and a merge of some sort was probably on the cards then I shouldn’t wonder.

Yes Lucy - Bob Swain took the operation over. Would the yard in Swinton be in Rake Lane?

They had a good contract too for the newspapers taking the rolls of paper to Fleet Street.
That’s the one, Marky…about 20 seconds off the motorway.
Must be the Hasseldene Nuttal motors with Switzerland written on the front of em,from up Manchester way, green Dafs most of em were, or are… used to have 113 Scanias, if i rember rightly, had a lot of left hookers. Did quite a bit of steel. I have seen em Swiss bound, or on their way back.
