Has nobody told him?

Maybe not in this case  .But in most cases the chances at any age after that would’nt be much better because of that old no experience-no job-no experience catch 22 bs.

seek and ye shall find
better to be connected though

Yeah better to be connected, like I dunno, your dad being William Stobart something like that
He’ll get a few easy runs to pop his cherry I would of thought.

he still needs to get his class 1 tho he only passed class 2 at mo. wonder if he will be offering his driving services for free till he gets some experience

WHOOSH! :grimacing:

Stobarts are probably the only company taking on newbies these days! And Edd works on thelandscape team until he gets his Class1! I don’t think he will have any problem starting! He seems like a clever lad to me! :grimacing:

Well the more youngsters pass their test, the more eager new starters are willing to take jobs for a lower wage. I’m guessing this is the reason why everyone tells interested ‘noobs’ to forget it in the wanabe forum

Ive also noticed that since STT let it be known that 1 in 5 drivers are ex forces! Not a lot of sneering going on these days at RDCs!

But the question is why is it those ex forces lot often decide to enter the industry after deciding against a career in it to start with from day 1  .I can remember a lot of sneering being directed my way by teachers and everyone else when I said that I was hoping to start out in the road transport industry and being told that a career in the forces was much more acceptable to their outlook on the world.

Guess which part of the army all of those who took the teachers advice then wanted to be in and then which sector they all wanted to be in when they went back into the civilian world. :unamused:

What were you doing? Listening to Teachers! Carryfast! I’m so disappointed that you want to be in transport! Why not be Cannon Fodder instead?

Ignorance is Bliss when your a Leftie tree hugging teacher!

Also it’s a lot easier on your pocket to train in the Forces for your Licences! :unamused:

Stories do take on newbies but only a certain amount, I’m guessing it’s some equal opportunities thing they run I went for a job at my local rdc and was told they had there quota of fresh meat

If you wanna do Tesco! General is better until they go back to what it was like before! Tesco/ general haulage all week!

To be honest knowing what i do now I wouldn’t, I worked on the loading bay for tesco before the big stobart takeover and all the drivers were happy, seeing the guys out on the road now and after seeing there pay and pressures, no chance, were I am at the moment I earn more, have very little pressure, and get to see gigs for free etc.
Knowing jobs like this are out there would stop me ever trying again. Plus my family (all drivers and O/D) would really frown upon it.
Yes work is work but you always have to aim for the best you can, and I have never been one of those people that wanted the power trip of being a copper ,the fame of being in a band or whatever it is that makes you a true stobart nutter.

Always look on the bright side of life! If your lucky to earn great money then good for you! But it’s not the be all and end all you know! You got to enjoy the job aswell! :grimacing:
