Has anything haunted you?

My mum was a nurse back in her youth. She had many stories of weird goings on. They had an old room in the hospital where there was a wooden rocking chair. It could be the height of summer yet that room was always ice cold and on occasion you could hear the rocking chair creaking as it moved slightly. Another being when someone passes on you are supposed to open the window to let the spirit of the person leave. One day this wasn’t done and the room was again ice cold. 5 minutes after the windows were opened the room had returned to its normal temperature.

A few things have happened when I was young that you doubt yourself, but my head was turned when some stuff went down at my Misses’ house about 10 years ago over a period of about a year. I was a skeptic until then. It was very real and not at all nice, no Holywood cosy “spookyness”. I don’t care for what anyone says now including all those smug tossers like Brian Cox say about such things, it just washes over me. It was happening and pretty unpleasant, sometimes terrifying.

The whole family was ground down by it. Aside from the visual events which were frightening, what was particularly nasty was a lot of the events seemed to have a deviousness and intent, not to mention the ability to move physical objects and living things with a curious malice. The whole place felt dread. Once some of the stuff started ramping up, it became apparent this wasn’t something you could ignore or put down as Casper the friendly pet ghost. It wasn’t stress, hallucinations, or any other tenuous human grasping inability to rationalise. It just actually happened. Still rocks me when I think back to it.

A vicar popped round and did a blessing and said some stuff which seemed to work, although it reserged a little a few years later. Never to the same extent though.

on that same airfield a few months prior to the man/monkey experience summat else happened. i wasnt sure whether to include it case it sounds like hes good at making up stories
yet again i was walking my dog. i spotted under a hawthorn tree laying on the ground ,half of a mans lower jawbone,it had very good teeth . looked old ,i imagined wartime anyway .
. i wasnt sure what to do with it,so i heaved up a broken slab of concrete laying nearby and carefully placed this under it . months went by , then one day i thought id go take a look at it , lifted up the concrete - and it had gone !

:open_mouth: I’ve found human bones on WW1 battlefields in Belgium, but on a WW2 airfield in the UK? :open_mouth:
It may have been part of a body buried to cover up a murder, …or it could have i/d d a missing person.

You really should have reported it mate. :bulb:

yeh i knew that, but at that time id got a lot on my plate, had just been made homeless and in midst of a messy divorce,i know thats no excuse but i didnt want more aggro. Actually ,as times gone on,iv wondered did i really actually see that monkey/ or that jawbone. iv noticed [on reading articles] that quite a lot of folk who report strange things such as U.F.O were going thru a very stressful time -at the same time- as they saw summat strange. figments of the imagination? its just possible, i mean the odds of that jawbone getting found by someone else must be 1000s to one

I’m regularly haunted by the spirits of Mr Jack Daniels and Mr Oleg Vodka. (I made the name of that last one up btw).

I grew up having been told numerous times by my Dad that a section of the A45 called Knightlow Hill which is between Ryton on Dunsmore and Stretton on Dunsmore in Warwickshire is haunted by a ghost lorry

The story goes that one foggy night in November a lorry crashed and the driver died. We’re talking back in the day when trucks were not too common a sight on the roads. If you Google the story you’ll find it easily

I used to go mountain biking every tuesday evening and one night I was coming back down Knightlow Hill from Stretton and I noticed a huge hole in a picket fence half way up the hill. A week or two later I read in the Rugby Observer that a car had gone through the fence swerving to avoid a lorry. I ■■■■ you not that is what it said

I wish I could talk to the car driver. For any of you that know that section of the A45 for a vehicle to come down on the wrong side would’nt be too easy to do as you have a big central reservation, it’s not simply a case of drifting over a lane

For a time I lived in Plumstaed SE london, for some reason or other the front lounge was always very cold no matter what time of the year and our dog refused to go in no matter what the inducement. On a couple of occasions heard footsteps going past the living room door and down three steps through the kitchen and out the back door which we could clearly hear close. Checked it and it were locked from the inside with the key dtill in the lock. Later we found out that a previous tenent had just returned home form having four new tyres put on his old 1947 Rover 17, got in, sat in his chair a promptly died of a heart attack. To be completely honest I was glad when we moved …

One thing ill never forget. I was following one of Thomsons tourist coaches up the mountain pass ‘The Serpentine’ from Sa Colobra, the coach rounded a slight bend with a sheer rock face to the nearside and in front of the bus was a tall guy dressed in black wearing a black hat. Naturally expecting the coach to pull out to go around him, it didnt, the bus seemed to pass straight through him and when i passed that point this guy had disappeared. There was absolutely no where to step out of the way as the rock face extended right down to the road surface and was sheer. There are numerous places with small crosses where some havent made it round one of the hairpins…

drivers in that area are probably used to seeing the apparition and just pass through knowing it can’t hurt them.

I lived with a ghost/spirit for 24 years in my parents home before I married and moved away and he never bothered me as I knew who it was. However he scared the Mrs half to death one night when she encountered him in the basement one evening and she never went down there alone again! :open_mouth:

My late Uncle walked around his old home in full military uniform I several years after his death. My dad was seen by several folk (non family members as well) at his brother’s cremation…dad had passed away two years before him though. Plenty of things out there that we don’t understand.

back in 2000 i was walking my dog on a former ww2 Airfield one summer lunchtime. suddenly about 10 yards ahead of us a “tiny pink man” popped up in the tufted grass and immediately ran away from us,arms swinging by its side. it had no hair, was about 18 inches high and i never saw its face . it ran only a few paces along the path then darted off into the undergrowth with a rustle of the grass/leaves it was gone…
Course iv never forgotten it. Recently i was browsing images of that airfield and came across some of a monkey that was a mascot for one of the crews . it rode in the plane apparently . the crew were lost in a mission in 1944 over germany

Was what i saw the ghost of that monkey■■?

Mrs B claims that my " tiny pink man " haunts her constantly :unamused:

May as well detail some of the things that I mentioned.

The house was a 1930s detached property in Northern Ireland. Pretty unremarkable.

It started with classic sighting of figures walking around the house, objects being moved etc and doors opening and shutting on their own in front of people. A regular theme centred around their pet dog. They had an aging arthritic little shih tzu that was unable to even jump onto the low sofa. He was kept in the kitchen at night by use of a child gate.

Quite often he would whine and shriek in the early hours only for my Misses to go downstairs and find him cowering in the living room, the gate still locked shut? At this point I was still firmly skeptical and suggested it was the gate or that the dog wasn’t so innocent and could pick the lock and close it again  . However, being a child lock it was stubbornly secure no matter how much fiddling with it to induce it to pop open and he most definitely could not jump 3 feet over it. But still, I wasn’t convinced by that point, it was too isolated. But then events started to take a more er, full on turn.

One day my Misses, her sister and Mum had been out and they came home to find the dog had been lifted on top of the kitchen cabinets. There he was, up high, cowering, shaking and wetting himself. This wasn’t isolated and started happening quite frequently.

Then some very direct visual stuff happened. A few times a child was seen walking across the landing. My girlfriend on one occasion was doing her makeup in her bedroom mirror. It was the afternoon and the house empty. The mirror reflected back through the corridor and landing behind her. Whilst doing her make up she saw a child like figure with long hair and a dress run across the landing towards her sister’s room. She investigated and found the house empty.

On one morning, her father was making coffee in the kitchen. To say he is a tough hard bloke is understating it. He’s a take no ■■■■ kind of person. It was dawn, still fairly dim with the sun coming up but the lamps were on all downstairs. The kettle was boiling away, the tv in the living room on. He could see through the door into the living room, his wife was sitting on the sofa wearing her dressing gown and presumed she had got up and come downstairs. He asked if she wanted a coffee. No answer, so he asked again. He got a bit annoyed and went through and barked at her “why the hell are you ignoring me etc etc. It wasn’t his wife. The woman had blonde hair and was sitting on the sofa but it wasn’t her. She got up, walked towards the tv and disappeared. His wife was still in bed upstairs. Well all hell broke loose after this.

I stayed over one night. I was working for a regional airline and had just finished a late duty and called over afterwards. Chatted to my Misses for a bit and then I got stuck into watching a program on tv, my Misses who was starting work early, went to bed. I was watching a bit of tele when the curtain rail, complete with both curtains launched itself across the sofa. Pretty curious.

One particularly odd one was the very old and painted over doorbell didn’t work as the wires were clipped from some dodgy diy years before. Occasionally this thing would still ring itself. It did it whilst the GF was on the phone to me one night which was a truly bizarre experience as I could hear it ringing and ringing. Whatever this was liked using doors as a torment. There’d be knocking on the front door and such. The French doors would be found wide open on occasions after being out, the internal doors would open and shut on their own at night etc. Alround, doors were a definite thing.

One day her Mum came home and found the photos of my girlfriend in the front room had all been turned around to face the wall, and everyone else’s photo untouched which was quite sinister.

I have a recollection at some stage that the Police were involved at various stages, perhaps when the unused, behind the sofa patio doors were found wide open one morning and that after several visits over the course they mentioned something along the lines of speaking to the local vicar. I’ll ask her later today about that side of it.

The atmosphere in the place was terrible.

In my first heavy truck driving job in the USA I had a regular run leaving after midnight for a morning delivery in Wilmington MA, I usually ran with another guy, ‘Joe’ (now dead, bless him). Joe and I left at different times and would meet up in New Hampshire after running through Vermont, whoever got there first would stop at the first rest area on I-89 in NH and get some sleep while waiting. One trip I arrived in the rest area about 02.00am and hit the bunk, I woke up after about half an hour to hear a knocking on my drivers door, I got up and looked out but there was nobody in sight, I thought nothing of it and went back to sleep but it happened again and still nothing there, I was fed up and drove to the truck stop at the next exit for coffee, I called Joe and told him I would meet him there. About a month or so later Joe was ahead of me and stopped in the same rest area, I called him to let him know I would be at the truck stop and he met me there. Joe told me that he had been woken in the truck stop by a knocking on his drivers door nut nobody was there and he put it down to a dream, I didn’t mention my experience in that spot because he was easily in-nerved. A few weeks later both of us were in the truck stop when a UPS driver came in and was saying how he had stopped in the rest area for a nap and had been woken up by a knocking on his door but nobody was there, he dozed off again but once again the same thing happened, it was then that I bought up the subject to Joe and he were both puzzled by the events.
Moving on to over a year later watching a news program there was a story about the discovery of a woman’s body in a shallow grave behind the truck parking area. Some serial killer who raped and murdered a few hookers and other women decided to hide this poor girl there. After the body was removed there were no reports of any more strange events.

Back when I was 14ish I was staying over at a mate’s house nearby. We’d been sent to take the dog for a walk and had gone down to the local woods that have a couple of big running ponds - it used to be a place for wagon trains to stop over and water horses etc.

His dog suddenly started acting weird - staying really close to us, whining and shying away from keeping going on the loop we were walking. We both wanted to get back indoors asap as it was, so just turned around and retraced our steps.

As we were walking back away, his dog kept alternating between running out in front and urging us on and coming to us and whining and looking behind us. This wasn’t normal at all and by now the two of us were properly creeped out. The last straw was the dog suddenly bracing itself aggressively and barking like crazy behind us. The three of us legged it at that point. No idea to this day what was going on but it was genuinely terrifying by the time we took to our heels.
