Anyone got any pictures of either of the above companies??
Harry Mason was from Milton Keynes, based in Wellington Place, Bletchley, White and Red Volvo’s doing mainly Spain with Tilts, and JLS were in Stanbridge Road in Leighton Buzzard(Same yard as Peter Roff), Cream and Brown MAN’s, Renault’s, F10’s amongst others, did losts of Ford Car Parts from Dunstable to Dagenham and Halewood, but latterly a fair bit of Spain and Italy with Turboliner Renault’s. Both went bust/shut down in the 90’s IIRC.

Hi Buzzard Boy I remember Harry Mason from when I worked for Jayhurst also out of Bletchley, but I’ve no pics I’m afraid.
We used to park in a side street near Plysu Plastics, a short walk from our shared office.
IIRC (but not sure,) the guy we shared the office with ran a few artic tippers.
IIRC (but not sure,) Harry’s guys did some of the Phillips TV tube work to Barcelona along with Jayhurst and several others.
The last I heard of Harry, he was doing some work for Tesco, but that was quite some time ago.
No pics I’m afraid, but IIRC there was a big hairy bloke by the name of Shirley on Harry Masons in early 90s, had a weekend with him at Puig, got rather pickled & ended up having an orange fight in the grove behind the petrol station with an old boy in an 89 from Southampton & a Scottish bloke in a NI reg Scania, one of those trips I’ll never forget, we were stalking each other like the bloody SAS

There’s a reminder from the past. Don’t imagine its still there, but does anyone remember Tillys bar?
Tillys is where the alcohol was consumed prior to the orange fight, it was a bit Watford Gap, but I always enjoyed my times there & the book swap was handy if you were weekended. I have an old calender from there somewhere, I’ll post it up if I can find it
Spent several days there in the early 80’s. At the time I worked for BRS, and we’d had a truck stolen, which had been reported as being seen in that area. Myself and one of our fitters Brian Pape, who used to drive to Spain and new all the packhouses went down there in my company car. We based ourselves at Tillys, and I must say we were well looked after. It had been one of Brian’s regular stops in his driving days, so he also knew lots of the regulars and locals. Unfortunately, we couldn’t find the truck, and we came back empty handed. BRS then decided to employ the services of a PI, who, having hired a light plane to fly over the area, spotted it up in the mountains. Brian and myself then flew out to retrieve the truck, which we did successfully, and then had a nice drive back. The whole exercise probably cost more than the value of the truck. Still got a t-shirt I bought at Tillys, though it must have been damp in the airing-cupboard, as its shrunk considerably!
