Hardstaff Group. [MERGED]

Just been talking to one of their drivers on a facebook group I am a member of, and as of 4pm yesterday Hardstaff are no more.
Gone down for £50,000,000 due to cng gas project, that’s another big and long established company that is no more. Met a few of their drivers over the years and always been friendly guys.

Looks like it is true, a big shock that…

T.Baden Hardstaff Ltd of Kingston-On-Soar has made 180 redundancies and is in administration.

Will Wright and Mark Orton of KPMG’s Restructuring practice were appointed joint administrators of T.Baden Hardstaff Limited (trading as Hardstaff Haulage) & Hardstaff Commercial Repairs Limited (trading as Charnwood Truck Services) on 6 February 2015.

The Nottinghamshire based business dates back to 1861 and specialises in road haulage services and fleet maintenance for commercial vehicles. The Group also operates the Portal Gas Services division which provides the supply of wholesale gas and has developed Oil Ignition Gas Injection dual fuel technology for commercial vehicles.

The company has operated for various clients including Midlands-based British Gypsum companies and Artex in Ruddington, part of the French-owned Saint-Gobain group.

The companies employed 232 members of staff and following the appointment of administrators, 180 people were made redundant. The remaining 52 individuals are currently assisting the administrators.

Will Wright, restructuring partner at KPMG in the UK and joint administrator, said: “The challenging trading conditions and changing dynamics in the market ultimately led to the businesses being placed in administration. Unfortunately, following a review of the position and the difficulties with continuing to trade, we have had to take the difficult decision to make 180 staff redundant. The remaining employees are supporting us whilst we explore a possible sale of parts of the businesses. Our team of employment specialists will be supporting all redundant staff on completing redundancy forms and putting them in touch with job seeker services. The Hardstaff Traffic Barrier Services business is not in administration, continues to trade as normal and we hope to find a buyer for it.”

The joint administrators will provide further updates as the case progresses.

The Hardstaff Group has a planning application for a eco project on the site approved by Rushcliffe Borough Council this month.

The business has won awards including Nottinghamshire’s Best Business “Sustainability Award” 2011 for the development and implementation of dual fuel technology in heavy goods vehicles and the Rushcliffe Community Partnership “Supporting the Local Economy” Award in 2013.

That’s a shock. :open_mouth: :open_mouth:
They had a big shout in Bardon Aggregates, especially Newbold quarry, Barton under Needwood!!
Seen their Trucks on the road Friday!!

Not good. I used to work for them on the Artex contract running out of Glasgow.
I hope all the drivers find jobs.

They had a Foden agency at one time and some of the local lads took their trucks there for the annual test. We had a couple of their artics in our quarry briefly a few years ago running tarmac to the Dronfield by-pass among other jobs but, as it took an hour to load each one of them, they soon got fed up with that and vanished again! They also used to run gravel from Bardons quarry at Uttoxeter.

Pete.

Sorry if it’s a duplication, but I’ve not seen this mentioned anywhere on Trucknet yet:

commercialmotor.com/latest-n … nistration

Only the traffic barrier part of the group is still going for now.

What a shame, they have been going since the 1800’s

T. Baden Hardstaff, Kingston-on-Soar, Notts.

180 staff gone already.

Pete.

Thanks Pete… must improve my searching techniques (!)

had a guy come in to register this week only started after moving jobs 4 weeks ago (they must have known this which is ■■■■ in my opinion as firms don’t just run up that amount of debt in a month). didn’t get paid and been told the liquidators will be in touch this week, really really felt for the chap as like most just a normal working guy who has been ■■■■ on from a great height.
