In the process of hard wiring the dash cam on a Scania R420 year 08. Which is the best way to wire the camera into the fuse box? TIA
Would it not be easier just to run another 2 wires off your permanent 24v cigar socket to another socket. This will keep it fused and also keep the camera running through it’s normal power adapter which is also fused.
Most cameras run around 5v, the bit you plug into the cigar socket converts 12/24v into 5v USB power.
Yes, just feed off an existing accessory socket and put an inline fuse in. It will need to be a very low rating one.
If the issue is the plug coming loose from the socket then hardwire some USB charging ports and something like Anderson Torberry connectors for higher outputs.
Now much less people use lighter sockets for their original purpose we’ve ended up with a crap industry standard connector for car accessories.
