Hard hitting road safety advert

I wonder how long this would stay on air for before the complaints started if shown over here?

That should be on every channel even the BBC.

It hit home with me and I’m sure it would with others

Brings it home…hard!

I’ve always thought safety and educational adverts should be used more.

Adverts like that can make a difference if shown enough.

Couldn’t agree more. Whatever happened to the Government public information films? Who can ever forget people coming from miles around to watch Reginald Molehusband attempt to park?

Best anti speeding ad I’ve seen, doesn’t rub the namby pamby don’t speed slogan in your face but gives you cold hard logic, might not be your fault but someone else’s mistake that brings you & them to an end.

These type of adverts need to be hard hitting.i would want everyone who views that to feel uneasy and maybe people will think more when driving.better to feel uneasy for 2 minutes than a lifetime of what ifs

If you think that’s tough - try this one from Oz. It’s anti drink driving and it is a bit of a challenge to watch all the way through. Stars easy… Put it on full screen and have another swig from the beer can.

This is the hardest hitting UK road safety ad I’ve seen…

Daft thing is, I’ve lost count of the number of fellow C+E drivers I’ve passed in the middle lane whilst they are texting away, not even aware that I’m going past them… :frowning:

Superb choice of music, made it even harder hitting.

In New Zealand where the first advert is from they have a thing called the road toll for Christmas and new year, where they publicly announce how many people have died on the roads in the holiday period. When the numbers start to get high it does make you think a bit. Families also put a white Cross up where people have been killed in crashes which is a far better deterrent than speed cameras especially when you see a stretch of road littered with them.

Shoudda just shot him, then the kid, then it will hit home.

I wish there was something that could be done about all the arses that drive around at this (or any other) time of the year with one headlamp completely out…

It seems in my neighbourhood, the police have granted a total amnesty to the public driving defective vehicles… Smoke belching out, windscreen obscured, lights missing, and even (in my mind deliberately) the rear registration plate caked over in road grime so you can’t read it at all…
You’ve also got Immigrants sitting two to a mini motorbike, no crash hats, no leathers, no care. If you’re lucky, they won’t be riding on the pavement, except the conduit ones.
Then who looks like a respectable gent getting ready to cycle home, high viz donned, helmet worn, and then he sets off with no lights whatsoever. :frowning:
SIt at a crossroad set of traffic lights, and you’ll see the opposing traffic stream full of people on their phones, most of them driving shall we say “the better” vehicles, rather than old bangers…

Where’s the damned police & VOSA? - Manning farthing corner MSA pulling us truckers over for spot checks? :imp:

Totally pointless IMO.

Tugs at the primitive emotions, but the message will never ‘register’ in the brains of those who it seeks to influence.

How many times, & at what £cost to the taxpayer, has it been shown in NZ, has it had any measurable effect ?

Chas:
has it had any measurable effect ?

It would appear so
