Hola mates! I have done some grumping about my country here in the Euro Forum from time-to-time. I want everyone to know that I am a happy trucker now, that is, it feels good for a change that soon the USA will have as president a man who is smarter than I am. The one we’ve had for the past eight years is dumber than my wife’s dog. (My dog is right up there at my own level).
When OTR long distance truckers are alone in the cab for long periods of time, often over the same familiar motorways, we have time to think about stuff, and it feels bad to think about somebody in charge of so much who is dumber than dirt.
There is a lot of hope riding in the shoulders of this man, not just from the US but from the World. He seems smart, but I hope he is a statesman not just a politiction and in the words of Nepoloen, Lets hope he’s lucky.

We hear a lot about his being black (the white half doesn’t count ) but I think he is one of those leaders that the planet gets maybe once every couple generations. With Americans being so ignorant of the rest of the world, it’s a miracle enough voters saw the brilliance and ignored the ■■■■■■■■, er, hype.
For a bonus, it’s gonna be fun seeing that family trotting around in the White House!
PS: I think Obama is pro GB and a lot of other good stuff.

I really do hope you are right John and that your expectations of your latest Irish American (O’Bama) are not misplaced. It does seem that he carries the weight of a million hopes on his shoulders. More strength to his elbow (and shoulders ).

We all puppets. Meat puppets. What kind we turn up as ain’t our fault. There’s no drive-up window in the sky where we pick our parents when we are conceived. “Irish please.” “Oh, and rich if possible.” Plus I am assuming nobody picks Somalia.
