I’m quite happy at Stobbies! Easy clean work! Money is not bad and always straight!
I’m about to start on the Tesco/Stobart train! Moving containers around between Tesco-railhead-depot-supplier-railhead-Tesco etc. Could be a cushy number!

Have to admit I’m very happy with my job and employers, kit isnt bad so long as they let me keep my FM and not get a DAF
Planner understands what problems we encounter
Well i have to agree with Tony been as i work with him
Its a good job no real stress if something goes wrong a quick call to the office and its sorted
The oldest motor on our fleet is a 08 Volvo FM the newest is 61reg Daf CF Spacecab which is mine lol (Tony didnt get one because he couldnt reach the roof )Were lucky being a small part of a bigger company but run as a small company it is all quiet friendly sometimes.
Yeah, happy enough. Left alone to get on with it, and nothing much in the way of petty rules, other than the tacho regs, to worry about. When I was doing days I would speak to the boss about once a week to find out what I was doing the next week, often it was just a text. Now I’m on nights I can go 3 or 4 weeks without seeing or speaking to him. Money’s okay for what I have to do and the vehicles are adequate.
I was happiest with a well known company oft mentioned on these forums, they had a long thread and a wager.
The job was very simple, money was no object and the equipment was second to none. It was probably my fault that I could not get on with a lying little weasel faced Belgian
I’m happy enough that it would take a considerable increase in money to meke me even think about leaving, the company I work for ticks all my boxes and then some, but that’s down to my attitude and state of mind as well as the fact that it’s a good job
I would say that every job I’ve ever had was a good job when I started them, sometimes they never changed, but either my circumstances or I did, then they become bad jobs
Best ever in my past was Fed Ex. We were paid well above the average for the time and many extras, if we did anything extra to help like an hours shunting for instance we got a tax free 25 quid payment and a certificate and medalion on top of my wages, this was a regular occurence, we also got 90% discount an all airlines and free travel in jump seats on Fed Ex planes and 8 weeks a year holidays.
My present company is better than most US firms, I get fantastic bonuses, some of which are totally unexpected and out of the blue, they also pay well above the national average wage. … So ! I am about as happy as a driver in the USA can be.
I’m happy enough, good kit, money, don’t get pushed for hours, I get left well alone but I do keep myself under the radar, but you are treated as a number I find and not as an individual.
I drive an 8 wheeler / grab for a utility company that pushes its drivers to the limit and beyond sometimes but the pay is very good so i can live with that.
The worst thing is that the lorries we use are past their best and forever throwing a leg out of bed and the fitters just dont want to know.
If only i had a squid for every time i heard “why did you do that ?” GRRR… !!!
I’m happy enough, get paid every fortnight. average fleet spec motor, which is rarely used by anyone else. mostly keep my own trailer so i know any problems faults will be sorted as soon as possible. my planner knows my name, and will work with you, bit of scratch my back etc.
ok work sometimes isn’t the cleanest, but thats what showers are for. i do 15 hours a day, but always have whoever I’ve worked for
. can’t see the point of doing a 12 hour day and then spending 12 hours in the bunk. where i live, there isn’t thousands of jobs to choose from.
problem is I’m as thick as ■■■■, because mr bewick says i am.
Very happy, I earn far far too much money, every 6 months i get to chose what new Truck i want, free BMW or Audi car as we’re owned by the germans, free flights any where in the world. If we dont want to work we dont have to, only work 3 days a week, no weekend or bank holiday work if we do it is Quad time and 4 days off in lieu per day… Great Job…
Do I win■■?
Yes im happy where i am now Good bosses and the other drivers are good lads,so im glad i moved over to them from TDG

Did they call him Michael by any chance■■?
If you think you are unhappy with your employer, you should try working for a HGV recovery firms, no they really do take the P***.
4 days on ( 24hr days ), 2 days off, £50 day if not called out, £8.40 /hr when called out, but your "meter " doesn’t start running until you arrive at the incident/ recovery .
Guess what my son just left them

■■■■ that
When I was on recovery, we were on hourly wages, 12hr days, 4 on 4 off, some stand-by, ie, take truck home tonight, get a call at 3am “too tired, sorry”. Sundays you had an option of going to yard and getting paid hours, or taking truck home and being on stand-by and only gettin’ paid when called out. I used to go yard, we had full 4 poster lifts for the car, so I’d do a service on my car, or just a bit of an under-clean, etc. Sort my tools out, sort the boxes on the trucks out etc.
Very happy…that is all

lUXURY !
I’ve known my lad go from Membury to Manchester across to Leeds, pick up another in Leicester, back to Chievley no breaks, back home for 3am & then called out again at 7 am , no chance of a " too tired " comment , it was a do you want to work or not…final answer no thanks too dangerous for him , customer & other road users as the are not on Tachos, so have paid his own way to get Class1 he’s left

Pretty much my point, didn’t get any stand-by money, so when I went home, I’d have a beer, not going back out, so too tired.
Loved the job, hated the firm, but I believe that all the firms are the same, so never went back
PROS
■■■■ easy job, decent wage , good holidays , good benefits , fairly secure peace of mind
CONS
Boring as ■■■■ , lot of red tape with health and safety etc , lost our sharepower scheme boring as ■■■■ wait ive said that already. oh and a daf cf
very happy. the truck comes home, i choose my work. the money is good, and his wife is a really good [zb].
Best I had was at TNT Express in Croydon. Great pay and a really close knit good work mates. We all covered each other’s shifts when needed and the boss even sponsored my American Football team (we do play it here). I had a new radio within a day when my old one died. The trucks were kept spotless inside and out, the fitter Paul was on top of every little fault and despite being in the parcel business they never pushed us for time. The funny thing is TNT had an ongoing in-house training scheme which is now called the Driver CPC and that started in 1991 !!!
Phil
p.s if any of you are on TNT in the Manchester area and know of a trunk job there let me know
