After driving class 1 vehicles for various companies, permanent and through agencies, I’ve done all sorts of work. Flat bed, tipper, chilled, store deliveries and general haulage. Wagon and drag and artic.
I have just fallen back onto the agency cycle and have been getting regular work delivering to stores. Store work is my favourite, well so I thought.
Today I have been sent to a general haulage firm for a shift. Class 1, pallet work. Get to the firm this morning, got my paperwork and keys, and went to find my unit. There in front of me was a class 2 curtainsider. Turns out I am on class 2 multi drop work.
You know what, it’s the best thing I’ve ever done. No stressing about getting stuck in city centres or reversing a trailer into a tight yard. I feel like a weight has lifted off my shoulders.
I think I could say that this is the happiest day driving I’ve had.
And people slag it off!!
