you have a map for rungis. keep it. have you been on the bays for the lambs? you don’t need a map you need a 10foot trailer and about 10 eyes. them [zb] don’t help. you get on bay 10 then they shut the door and say no bay 12 whilst laughing at you navigating around some [zb] arsed post at 2am when you’ve been up for 24 hours. at least you had a map.

If it needs doctoring it’s not allowed. Go read the rules. L.

I had a map handed to me when i was at gilders…Farmers Fresh sell to ovimpex…so a normal night would be straight on the bay at ovimpex(not V1p) to tip the ofal then over to V1p ovimpex again then in to the hell hole round the back for martins, bbv then back to ovimpex to finish…Eurolamb well what can be said about them?? start grg…eurodis…martins…bbv…ovimpex then roun the corner past the comet to cvd…didnt get help with eurolamb but never touched a lamb with farmers fresh…I was there xmas day talk about gridlock…i thought smiffield was bad at the wrong time of day…rungis at chrismas…Never again…who was u running for??

Once you slam on to make the meat move forward put the locks on the rails. you will be overweight on the drive axle unless your in a six legger. Stay away from rungis.

Unfortunately thats exactly where kepak send virginia

And some bays in rungis like v2p dont open your doors first. They open them inside.

And dont forget the white coat…ha ha …

…and hair net.

Or hard hat if your going to smithfield, could never understand why that was :unamused:

having done hanging for about 20 years, first consideration, the meat just might be loaded hot, this will cause your fridge to scream it’s head off for hours and just continually go on defrost, not a broken fridge just warm meat,on a long journey you could bring it down a few degrees at a time.
secondly,do everything slowly and with care.roundabouts pose your major prob particularly if you go to france, not a guide but 10 mile an hour would prob get you round safely, stuff them following you.
Thirdly,as already mentioned, a shunt when loaded, then put the stops in should keep load in place,if your doing deliveries, replace stops when tipped.
lastly if it is loaded hot,you can climb in and feel it,write it on delivery docket or cmr they won’t like it but your boss won’t like a claim either and guess who will get the blame…YOU

Edward Teller:
Went for a job doing hanging meat a few years ago in Grimsby, the employer asked if I had done it before and when I said no he replied he would not be able to get insurance for me.

When I checked he was telling the truth, if you havent done it before you can land yourself in it.

Another one of those catch 22 situations!

I did hanging beef out of an abbotoir(sp) in Walton on Thames to France for a short while.Never had previous experience, just used my loaf.
The beasts were killed directly before loading and I was not allowed to leave before the temperature had dropped.Had to wait for a couple of hours with the fridge screaming away.
As has been said,it’s bends and roundabouts to be aware of,more so roundabouts. When you’ve got onto the roundabout steady, you may think it’s OK,but powering out of a roundabout is the problem, that’s when then load swings the other way,and if you’re accelerating, you could be off the roundabout and straightened up before she goes over!

Done hanging lambs to France for a while, Rungis every week, bloody hardship, running round rungis from here to there in middle of night, not much sleep. Your first day will be round 20 to 24 hours, red eye business !!!

Make sure you go round corners nice and steady. M
ake sure you dont ‘Swan Neck’ as this sets the trailer rocking and could be the start of what is known as a slow rollover.
That is the trailer starts to sway like a pendulem and as you go down the road the swaying gets worse then over she goes. :open_mouth:

Dunbia own Oriel Jones & Son at Llanybidder , bought them several years ago but only rebranded a couple of years ago , don’t know about Kepak though

DUNBIA

Ha, must also own Rose County Foods in Clitheroe ? My brother used to do Hangin beef from there to Dunganon Meats

Rose County Foods were in cahoots with Oriel Jones, used to see their wagons with Oriel Jones trailers on

was wonderin Y Ian Parkinson lost all his Kepak work
