Handing back uniform

Most definitely, and I’ve never bought a thing from B & Q in the 10 years since even after building 2 houses. So yes, bridges were burnt for sure.

My wife left B & Q on very bad terms and they asked that she return all items. Because there’d been bad blood my missus said if you want it you’ll have to come and get it. They did get all arsey saying she was obliged to return it and they would persue legal action if it wasn’t returned, my missus replied saying they were more than welcome to collect at a mutually convenient time.
They had to admit defeat and come for it. They can’t make you take it back but you have to make it available for them.
It was funny when they arrived to get it, she threw it out of the bedroom window at them and laughed when they had to pick it all up off the drive.

I’m sure the lacky that the big corporation sent also saw the funny side. If you’re going to take it to “the man”, don’t think you’ve won when he sends a junior.

It was the head of HR that arrived with one of the senior managers. There’d been lots of dialogue, couple of snotty letters from head office demanding return of their uniform which were replied to saying uniform was ready and waiting for them to collect. It was an act of petulence for sure but worth it.
Take your point though, it’s no point venting at the office lacky when it was clearly not their fault.

last job I had before moving,i drove into the yard with my uniform all cleaned and nice in a bag,one of the two bossmen was in the yard and all I got was WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE,YOU DONT WORK HERE ANYMORE,i thought theres gratitude for you, wont bother in future unless they ask for it back,i reckon the other reason most want the uniform back is as everyone else says security, but they also write it off on the tax bill

Why do you now need too hand it back , it’s not as though it can be used again , in the past I used it until I got issued with new company uniform, for working on car , gardening etc :sunglasses:

See when you do a “dozy” at your next firm whack a bridge or summit and the press turn up and see you in your green uniform it would be a bad image for Stobarts even though you don’t work for them. Or you get into a barney at a service station and crack someone’s jaw and you’re wearing a green uniform, bad image. Countless scenarios.

I think the main reason would be security though.

My last company you could keep the uniform trousers and you could keep anything else as long as it was debadge. But who wants a fleece with a big round hole in it

I thought bridge hitting was part of the stobart training ?
who on earth would walk around in a green uniform ? they look like irish leprechauns on heat but worse of all they wouldnt want to give it BACK !!! why on earth would anyone not give it back ?

Harry Monk:
From Stobart’s website…

We would like to ask for your assistance in dealing with the following issue:

Stobart management has received a number of reports of instances where none Stobart employees have been mistaken for employees due to the non-Stobart employed individuals wearing items of Stobart uniform. Any person who visits a Stobart site wearing Stobart uniform who is not a Stobart employee will not be given access to the site regardless of circumstance and will be asked to leave.

The company is also taking action to deal with the illegal supply and sale of uniform and advises all members not to purchase said items as they remain the property of the company at all times thus are classed as stolen.

Finally please note this does not apply to our range of clothing purchased through the Stobart shop which you are more than welcome to wear when visiting our depots

That last bit made me laugh. It was almost like an after thought. “Please don’t buy owt off the drivers as we have a massive merchandising department that would rather fleece you”.

Re Stobarts, always without fail have a crap in the pocket before handing it back…
