Hampshire online freight route planner

Good afternoon,

Hampshire County Council have just released a ‘test’ version of an online frieght route planner, if this is of interest to you and you have 5 minutes free to test and let us know you thoughts we would be very grateful!

*Although other counties have data included in this map, some do not. The above map mainly applies to Hampshire.

Many thanks,
Darren.

I just gave input a few routes, It seems to suggest some long winded routes, that aren’t really needed, such as being directed through a city ,when there are other suitable routes available , but at least it doesn’t route using the M6 toll everytime

The map becomes indistinct when reduced

Possibly needs a bit of work! Put in a route which sent me via M25 to exit @ 9 and run through to cobham and rejoin @10? In reality this route was coming up M23 and down M3? Am I missing a closure on M25?

Definately needs a bit of work. I put in 2 addresses local to me in the New Forest. It did well to avoid a 14’3’’ bridge that is regularly being hit but took me under a 12’ bridge and then up a gravel bridlepath which quite frankly a landrover would struggle with

fail lol

Thank you for testing it. Would it be possible to let me know the details of the failed route so we can raise the issue.
Many Thanks!

SO41 8JD to SO42 7QE. Gordleton Ind Est to Rhinefield Rd Brockenhurst.

I don’t want to seem negative, but is this not trying to re-invent the wheel a little? Surely GPS’s with truck specific routing already offer this?

What does this offer that they don’t?

Rancid

I just tried a similar route from Whitchurch to Crawley and it did the same thing, exit M25 at 10 and back on at 9, seems it doesn’t like driving past Cobham services!

It just diverts trucks away from all the Rich people’s houses! (Tic)

put in a height of 100m and a weight of 1000t width of 8m and it still routes the same borlocks …

I can understand the reason for offering a route planning service such as this, but I suggest you add more destinations. A to B is nice but surely drivers need more than just that. If you could have the ability to optimize the order of the destinations, then you’ll have a real advantage, and users will appreciate your help.
