Do you agree with this or not.If you ain’t a member of motortransport it also says they

I see that treating hgv drivers nice didn’t last long.

Practically everywhere else in Europe has the ban we might as well follow suit makes sense as were not in Europe ?

Unfair competition as hauliers in Hampshire would be at a disadvantage
i dont do sundays . and dont see the harm in banning hgvs on a sunday really.
although i feel be more a case of were banning hgvs on our roads on a sunday. but if you pay us you can come in on a sunday. kind of a stealthy way to introduce a tax
To reduce emissions is it? How so?
Banning Sunday running won’t reduce the total amount of freight moved will it?
However it may mean more trucks running on busy Monday mornings, rather than quiet Sundays, so increasing their own emissions and those If other vehicles subject to extra delays.
.
No overtaking?
I can see the sense on two lane stretches, especially at peak hours…too many elephant racers out there unfortunately.
But on 3 plus lane motorways? Not so sure about that.

No overtaking and some clowns going up the A34 at 40 mph that will be interesting

If a truck is travelling at 30 and there are no overtaking signs.
Then don’t overtake.
If the trip takes longer than you expected, you’ll change your expectations for the next trip.
So will your boss. (Eventually)
.
Doubtless there will be much gnashing of teeth, but why?
Extra time equals extra cash, or extra nights out, or doing shorter runs.
Maybe it will take time to adjust if such rules do come in, but Hey-Ho!

Ha Ha… [emoji3]
You certainly wouldn’t get him agreeing!
And in truth I might well have been amp get those flying down the outside a few years back.
As Smiffy said,
“No point in getting older, if you don’t get wiser.”
Well thought out, just opened the tips again so we’ll close all 26 on Sundays. 9 transfer stations, 3 incinerators, 2 recycling sites and 2 green waste sites. A lot of rubbish isn’t going to get moved and a lot of employees won’t be getting an extra paid day off every week. Should be fun.
Would be interesting to see how the ambient supply chain for the shops would operate. Unless there is an exception for that as well as refrigerated (as usual-rules when it suits), but then, how far along the chain would it go… Would tankers of rapeseed oil and empty glass bottles to the sauce factories count… As it is food and drink related?
Yes it has been in place in some European countries for years including Germany … Its some time since I went to Germany but I seem to remember almost all shops been shut on a Sunday apart from bakeries and convinience stores and 24hr opening wasn’t that common. Has it changed much?

Good thing supermarkets aren’t busy on Sundays or mail/parcel companies busy on a Monday morning…Oh wait.
I wonder if that means the Fire service wont be responding to calls on Sundays?
Could go all the way as Switzerland did. No Sundays nor 22hr00 til 06h00 every day.
Monday mornings would be good. Overtime for everyone in a truck. Extra unpaid commute time for others.
Bring it on!
Most European countries with Sunday restrictions have exemptions for certain types of freight eg refrigerated products.
So all that would happen is the supermarkets would run as normal and the rest would crack on with their Monday to Friday work.
There has always been stories of unscrupulous hauliers running fridges, even when carrying non-perishable goods, to avoid Sunday restrictions.
