Hi guys. I’m doing my very first flat bed job tomorrow and I’ve been given 4 hammocks to sheet with. My question is how do I use them
What’s a hammock ? Your better looking on the old time forum at the various roping & sheeting threads ,there’s a bloke on there goes by the name Bewick He had various attempts at sheeting !

I tried this Hammock sheeting thing a few weeks ago, only got this far
Hammocks…they for sleeping in, not good if you got a bad back and swing like arse holes when its windy …
Tarpaulins what you sheet with … think I remember watching some video on YouTube… I’ll post it if I find it… think you start at the back and work forwards…
i assume your doing kingspan or tata panels ? pm me your number easier an quicker to explain over the phone
Drift. You owe me a brew. Mine is all over the couch.
FPMSL. Better be careful you don’t drift off…

The boss thought it was funny to, said it could only have been me
I suspect many, like me, have never heard of the term “hammock sheeting” be interesting to see a photo of it,to perhaps explain what you mean.
Have to do sheets or skins at least once a week.
You can’t really explain it without showing. Very basic. Start with the rear one and work it forward. In two words. Make sure there’s no loose ropes left over and sheets won’t fly away. If not sure, put the ropes, straps over the sheets.
If you are lucky enough with sheets or skins touching the bed, then it is peace of cake.
Much harder is when skins are too short and you have to go for sheets as they are much longer so you have to roll them up and make a loop over rolled up edges and proceed as normal.
Most important is to fold the sheets in the right way after you get them off!!!
Hope that helps!
Good luck!
I 've done ropes and sheets on and off since 1979 but have never heard of hammock sheeting. It sounds like something that Dipperdave would do in his spare time after his tribbing videos.
I am guessing the op is meaning those straps with a piece of tarp sewn in between 2 straps for strapping insulated sheets on rather than sheeting up .
There’s a whole thread on roping and sheeting over on the Old Timers Board where I’m from
Although you don’t get to use ropes anymore
someone ask for a hammock ?
My old man used to rope and sheet. I remember watching him in winter. Not good.
He worked out of New Cheshire salt works near Northwich. Wet salty ropes are not very kind to hands, poor old sod ended up with hands like claws before he died.
In 40+ years of driving, now retired, have I heard of “hammock sheeting” or “skins”
Presumably its means normal rope and sheeting and a skin is a fly sheet.
Can`t keep up with this modern language, its as bad as words abbreviated for sending text
Could someone enlighten an old dolly knotter please, what is a hammock sheet? i’ve never heard of the term before.
hammocks are different have a look out for lorries carrying kingspan roofing sheets
the jist is throw a strap over attach said hammock to strap pull it over get it kind of level use two ratchets to secure it and bobs your uncle
