Had a minor RTA coming from sheffield way at a roundabout onto M1, was a women driver in jaguar x-type in wrong lane, who cut across without indication or even looking, basically side swiping the new 62 plate i was driving lol,
She tried to speed off, but i managed to get past lights and hold down horn / signal for her to pull over, which she eventually did 1/4 up the slip road to M1.
She tried the tears when i asked her what she thought she was doing and was very apologetic…
After some exchange of details i asked her whether she was gona accept liability… her response was no, since she doesn’t want her premium to go up.
What can i do ? she was in the wrong, but clearly didnt wana stop or even admit liability
I took photo’s etc and no major damage, no harm to either driver
No witnesses due to it being coming onto slip road (she drove away from initial scene)

It’s a condition of a motor insurance policy that you do not admit liability, no matter how obviously at fault you are, and if she had admitted liability then her insurers could refuse to pay out, so don’t ever press somebody to admit liability.

If you admit liability then your cover automatically reduces to third party… I.e, you wont get a penny but the other party will.

Yea, it will be in the small print. What the finer points of admitting liability are is something I don’t have the time or the inclination to check, it’s just sufficient to know that it’s a Golden Rule that you never admit liability, even if you run a toddler over on a zebra crossing while six times over the drink-drive limit and with four bald tyres and defective brakes.

What would have happened if you hadnt caught up with her? Id have phoned the Police with her reg. number saying she hit your car and drove off. Theyd have paid her a visit and checked for damage to her car. Technically, shes attempted to leave the scene of an accident.
Proof that all self respecting truck drivers should carry a few sticks of chalk, just in case, you could have cordoned off a lane either side of her and stopped her leaving the scene if you had been better prepared
Emphasise in your accident report form that she made every attempt to drive off without stopping and only did so because of your actions to force her to by drawing others attention. You also say that she was very apologetic, what is saying sorry other than an admission that something is your own fault? She HAS admitted liability (and then effectively tried to say she didn’t mean to.)
I got hit by a hit and run driver in london at the a501 outside euston station.
Witnesses too and reported it to the met pol, they sent a letter to me stating that-
" Due to the minor damage we do not feel it is reasonable to follow this up with further enquiries"
So the met seem to think it’s ok to do a hit and run as long as it’s only minor damage, so much for the heinous crime of leaving the scene of an accident and failue to report!
I still carry that letter in my tacho wallet so if I ever get stopped for clipping another vehicle I’ll just show it to plod and carry on my merry way free from any further enquiries.
ps, Did I mention that it was a police van that hit me? Draw your own conclusions.

Have her hunted down and executed by hitmen… It’s the only thing you can do
call the police and let them deal, possible as its on slip road may have been caught on cctv,
a similar thing happened to my mother in law a couple of years ago, her car was clipped by another who drove off, she followed and eventually got HIM to stop, though no responsibility was admitted to by either party, details were obtained and m in law notified her insurance next day, a couple of days later police were on the door step as the other driver had reported that m in law had chased him for several miles forcing him to pull over, damaged his car and her own and verbally abused and threatened him, due to the damage done to his car by m in law he was scared for his life!! well that was what this low life bit of scum alleged, btw m in law was 61 and is registered disabled, this guy was mid 30,s? luckily police saw through this attempted scam but it was a worrying time for m in law…
imagine what can be alleged by a woman being stopped by a trucker?/
