had a days at brakes today find out next week if i got the job, came away and had time to think about it not sure if i want it, what to do
Is it better than what you currently have ?
There’s your answer, do it until something better comes along.
Brakes, 3663 and the like always seem like they want a labourer with a driving licence rather than a driver.

I think this is the problem with a lot of driving jobs, new drivers get there licence and think they are going to be doing long distance with sunglasses on and yorkie bar in hand when unless they are very lucky there not.
dont mind the hard gaft(been self employed for 8 year)and i dont expect a cushy number straight away, but some companies take the p**s,they said the average drops per day was 30+,i was with a guy who had the same route for 10 years so knew round like back of his hand, left the yard at 5.45 did 20 drops back at yard 1.45(no breaks)thing that bothers me is another 10+ drops i dont think i would stand a chance of ever completing
Nozz which depot? Worked at Tamworth for 3 years had my own run in Wolverhampton 35 drops was usual tipping on breaks just to be done in 12 hours. Some drops were 100 boxes of chips 15kg each carry to the back of the truck 5 on a hand truck then up a slope then stacked in a freezer.
Some of the lads doing Birmingham city centre were going out with 50+ drops.handling cash wasnt brilliant driving back with £1000’s in cash.

If you have a regular run & know what your doing you will be surprised how many drops you can rattle off in a morning. The driver that has 50 drops in a city centre won’t have much driving to do, chances are on several occasions during his run he’ll be able to do 5/6 without even moving the truck. I have a mate that worked for 3663, he had a run around Blackpool with 40-50 drops and had 15 on just one short road.
Be grateful for the opportuniy i say!
â– â– is it?

True. But when i started I was doing 400 miles a shift in an artic with a load and tip… So it can be done. I agree though, a lot of folk get the licence and are expecting a Scania V8 and the open road.
Not easy to do, sadly.

Me to passed test on Tuesday saw job in paper on Wednesday went to see them on Thursday and started on Monday, driving a chemical tanker out of Grimsby. First run Ipswich second Elgin full load out run back empty, best job I have ever had but very hard for a new driver to get.
