Had A 45 Hour Rest Period, But

mac12:
It’s not a stupid rule enjoy your time off, remember the saying work to live not live to work.I just wish they would enforce the 48 hour week and make it include breaks and poa,48 hours after you walk though the gate you go home.

Couldn’t agree more, theres more to life than running up and down the road all bloody week, been there done it, got the t.shirt AND the sweatshirt :unamused: , trouble is now I’ve learned this and got a bit more sense it’s too bloody late, all kids grown up at home while I was on wrong side of country/channel… Was it worth it? was it ■■■■ :smiling_imp:

I do, and it is.
And no one is forcing you to do more than 48 hrs a week, you do it by choice.

Winseer:
A 45 hour break resets for “weekly rest”.It doesn’t reset the 90 hour fortnight unless day one of the 90 hours was 12 days before the 45 hour break.

Obviously you don’t drive Sunday night/ Monday morning! Once you’re driving at 23:59 hrs it flicks to midnight a minute later! BUT ONE MINUTE later ( UTC TIME ) at the minute 01:01hrs it takes off what you’ve drove the previous week! So use your up and down arrows ( the two thin lines donates YOUR fortnightly driving ) once it reaches 01:01 hrs it resets to whatever you drove the week prior to that! It’s not hard :grimacing:

Also POA has nothing to do with it, the OP couldn’t drive ONE MINUTE AS HE STATED HE WAS ON 89:59hrs so his 45 hrs rest was up at 16:00hrs but, legally he couldn’t drive till 00:01 ( UTC ) so he should of been grateful for the extra time off! Wife, kids or spare piece! THE LAW IS AN ■■■! :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing: :grimacing:

I don’t work more than 48 hours a week,i have a well paid agency job so only work when i need to or want to.

I was sensable and took 8 years off from driving trucks when my daughter was born, only came back to it after splitting with her mother, but at least i saw the best of the early years, back on tramping, my choice.
I work to suit myself as long as the upto 45 hrs driving is done every week.
but give it a few more years I will want a 4 on 4 off job to see me through to retirement

I didnt make that mistake, I learnt early on in my driving career that it doesnt mix well with family life.
And now I can work as and when I want, well as long as rediculous rules don’t restrict me

so when you retire you can sit at home on your own and think what a waste of my life all i have done is sit in a truck.

just like every job there is really.
you could be thinking, all i’ve done is:
sit in an office all day,
been sat on a train all day,
sat in a diving bell 24/7.

but do the other jobs live at work like a driver most go home at night and don’t moan because the law says they have to have 45 hours of work most don’t work more than 35 hours in a week

I maybe would be thinking that if i been stuck in one place all my working life, like stuck in the same office or factory, or had to talk to the same people every day, or doing the same trunk day in day out for years on end.
I certainly would not think I have wasted all my life sat in a truck, because I havn’t.

No one is moaning about having to take 45 hrs off work!!
And I bet they moan about having to do the same mundane boring job every day.

So if we wrote the total rules out again, how many of you would agree with them, and more importantly how many could remember them?

The current ones have been around for over 5 years, I don’t believe some of the questions asked on this site, some of who haven’t been driving that long, yet they still get mixed up with pre 2007 rules, especially with ferry crossings and daily rest

i think it would be easy to rewrite the rules.
just copy the American ones.
i think you could fit them on the back of a stamp.

Really?

Nothing seems very straightforward in these.

ok it’ll be a big stamp.
still less crap than ours.

Maybe this moaning and 4th wife crap is more about the wrong woman than the wrong job.

My missus understands that I was a ratty ■■■■■■■ when I worked in an office, I was a stressed, greying, ratty ■■■■■■■ when I drove people around, so now I drive trucks, still a ratty ■■■■■■■ but she only has to put up with it now and then.
