As somebody who learnt my trade as a Class 1 driver doing night time Tesco deliveries for Wisemans, I sympathise fully with the driver in the picture. I’m just thankful that on the few occasions I ballsed up (thankfully never to the point I got stuck) I didn’t have some bellend with a camera filming me and sending to the press. :unamused:

Mix inexperience with tight turned circles, cabs with poor visibility, bad light, empty cages & dot com vans parked all over the place and it’s a recipe for accidents. I remember turning up at back gates and peering inside for a good few minutes, flumoxxed at how the hell I was going to spin the thing around & then get it into position for going backwards. Reversing in off the road wasn’t often a viable option.

Leave them without milk, they’d soon organise the yard better so you could get in and spin it round

Yep !

There is no such thing as a no reversing in delivery point […]
…and thats why delivery points are staffed, so two people can come out stop the traffic and see the driver reverse in safely.

well thats given me my little chuckle for the day.

“No reversing without a banksman”.

Assuming that doesn’t mean popping down to barclays, to bring a suit along - you’ll often find that the staff on the bay will all magically be “going for a break all at once” when you turn up, especially if you turn up on time. :unamused:  (on agency though, you take as long as it takes… No bother!)
