Don’t kno if anyone else posted on this but got told by a pal today he’s been made redundant along with the rest of the staff because they’re closin the Hessle branch down completely, very sad news so close to christmas.Good luck for the future lads and lasses.
He just txt again said 5 sites closing 250 jobs gone
IIRC , H&L are merc garage’s, so are the rest of the H&L going to pick up the extra work done by 5 sites with no expantion at those sites?
i know it was a couple of year’s ago, benton’s stopped buying merc’s due to the lack of workshop time available for the said trucks they wanted to buy.
i think there going to lose a lot of customers, when it comes to fleet renewal time.
Simon Gibson has just put an order in for 9 new actros’s so think he mite change his mind.
I had a phone call tonight which suggested that Mercedes had withdrawn the franchise.
Presumably they will award it to another group if this is true?
Regards,
Nick.
If you look on the dealer locater it is showing Northside Truck Centre as the franchisee for Hull.
An old School friend of mine has worked there for 40 years since they were at North Cave. He was on the van sales though
as said yesterday by a simon gibson driver (volvofh16?)
look north york’s and linc’s, merc have stripped the right for H&L to sell and service merc truck and vans,
this put’s about 200 people out of work, and affect 5 dealers, lincoln, immingham, boston, york and hull.
there is a helpline for H&L employeys, to help them get redeloyed across to other dealer’s.
Grantham is also affected
I work for Brakes at Grantham part time and H&L do all their maintenance and have a workshop in the yard
Good luck to the lads in Lincoln garage - workshop spares manager is totally spot on in getting my parts in for the 611d I have …
Is there a Merc garage out worksop way in case I need other bits?
Most of our fleet is merc and lincoln was our service centre. I have had dealings with that particular dealership for a good few years now and its come as no suprise to me they have gone, the only suprise is that it didnt happen years ago. We have had mercs top uk brass trying to sort various issues with h and l over the last 3 years. Sorry to say it but they couldnt fix a puncture on a push bike, fault after fault time after time trucks would go in and out for same issues. Often came out damaged as well dints and scratches on doors was a favourte. Oil usually trod into the floormats etc.
Feel for the 1 or 2 mechanics they had that did know a bit but no simpathy for the fitters who didnt know one end of a spanner from another nor the happy service department staff, mind you I know one was leaving anyway so shes fell lucky with a wee payout first.
well i,m sorry that lads end up on dole but the service if you can call it that, they suposedly supply is dreadfull, I have had trucks into both hull and york and they have come back with the same faults and they have had them for days at a time, 1 went for a major service and i put 5 pints of oil in it on their car park when i collected it, one had clutch problems and it came back with gearbox bolts still loose… the down time on our trucks was ridiculous with them that we cancelled all contracts and employed a mechanic ourselves. sorry H&L but good ridance
We was using H+L at Boston and Immingham but as I type this my truck is at northside trucks in Doncaster for a service and one of there blokes said they are taking over some of H+L garages possibly hull Immingham and York garages
Hope the muppets at chatfields in Leeds are reading this they got to be top of the crap service roll of honour
