I’ve just ‘bumped up’ the Kent Transport thread to the top of this page for you. You should find what you want on there. There are plenty of Woodcock photos. Robert

There are very brief glimpses of 2 H E Woodcock Mandators and what may be an LV ERF in this clip of the A2 at Rochester Way, they appear at around 5.40.

From what I heard from my good mate Vic who used to be in the workshop, Laurie Woodcock was involved with the village retained fire station. Apparently a little exercise of trying to put out a training exercise fire in the yard (on a pond??) went a bit skew whiff!

It would be good to hear a bit of history about the firm. Unusually for this part of Kent they seemed to run quite a bit of coal back in the early '70s.

I used to park up regularly on a Monday & Tuesday night at whitwood truckstop with an old boy off Woodcocks, used to drive a white Merc in the livery of " Telemechanique " !
In the early 90s !

One of my former employers had a reciprocal agreement with Woodcocks- they would load us with cider apples from Kent to Bulmers’ at Hereford, while we would load them with coal from South Wales to Kent. As I recall, the regular driver had an AEC Marshall bulk tipper with Ergo cab.

Anything to do with woodcocks haulage would be of interest to me not just photos. Any old stories, customers would be very interested to see it all. I’m lucky enough to have kept in with haulage with getting a bit of work at locks haulage spraying there lorries and it was someone there who suggested this website for info on my family past.

It looks to me as if Lock have now given up spraying their lorries in their traditional metallic bluey colour? All new ones of theirs I see are white with a token splash of two blue coach lines? Any ideas or down to cost?

I sprayed a brand new Volvo in traditional blue last week. Pictures at www.pluckleycoachworks.uk

Nice job, Davis. And you get to work on some amazing motors, too.

The Lock Volvo looks great! Well done.
