South leeds sports centre at the top end of middelton grove beeston loads of room to park

I live 5 mins from there, loads of room on the adjoining industrial estate. But it’s over a fiver a pop

Or there is a place in Middleton called fitness and physique. A proper ■■■■■■■■ gym, you can park near the council tip and walk over the road. £3 a session and its 10 mins (due to7.5t limit) from the south leeds sports centre. Or 5 mins if you happened to “miss the 7.5t signs”

Near the old bus station is that the one? or they is winstons health centre down dewsbury rd

Why … please explain

jessicas dad:
Fitness first Pontefract, they have gates but they are never used and its ideal for parking…

Dont hold much hope for the other sites though as ive tried to get the lorry near and have nearly come a cropper once or twice.

This was ideal as there’s a place to eat, a supermarket and loads of parking. Sadly it’s just closed it’s doors as Fitness First. It is reopening or might alreeady have as an independent gym. I was a member there and used to use other gyms around the country on my travels. The way I looked at it was £22 per month for a shower every night so money well spent.

yes mate live in wakey now though moved for the glamour

I’ve got a national membership at Bannatynes gym’s. The benefit being that they’ve all got car parks that are well laid out. Normally on out of town retail parks too. If I’ve had to use one while out in the truck I’ve always managed to bung it on the road outside or make it a later night stop (most are open till 11) and use the car park which is emptier then.

Yes it’s £63 a year BUT you get use of a decent gym, swimming pools/saunas etc as well as a decent shower, locker and cafe all over the country with pretty much guaranteed free parking right outside? Keeping your night out money soon helps towards the cause and I know where I’d rather be, there or an MSA!

They also tend to open early so you can go in and get a decent shower, pre work swim etc in and a cup of coffee for a quid or so.

It would be worth that just for the parking and facilities.
I suspect for a national multi site membership it will be slightly more expensive than it would be for a fixed site.
The cost for my local gym is around £30-£38 a month for unlimited use of the gym & pool. Discounts are given for certain companies & council employees

Thanks for a the replys, very helpful. I had a look around the area of the village hotel on Capitol park
Morley as I think joining that chain might be a better option as they’re situated all over the country. It’s not great for parking but there is a street with an old mill right near it where I should be ok to park overnight.

I’m still going to have a look at some of the gyms mentioned and also look at the old fitness first in pontefract as I understand it’s on park road and I do a lot out of chep on park road so that would be ideal. Hopefully it’s still a gym.

Thanks again

It’s reopened as another gym. It closed as Fitness First on 31st January and has now opened as something else but I can’t remember what.
My FFmembershuip before it closed was £24 a month. Ok so there wasn’t a pool but it was worth the money for a shower.

I would think the pain in the arse would be them wanting you to have the induction every time you go to a new gym.

Exactly, and some of the bigger chains don’t let you just have one session you must join for the month, and if they do let you have 1 session its about a tenner, truckstops and msas should have gyms in them just a thought :open_mouth:

And RDC’s

Hexham’s Wentworth Truck Park is next door to an excellent public sports centre including gym. It’s £6:00 for 24 hours. goo.gl/maps/PXDYt

i once watched a prestons of potto driver set up a exercise bike in front of his truck in flixbourgh ind est and crank away at a fair pace for about an hour then packed it away and drove off

North Wales Truckstop at Deeside (near Icelands depot) will be installing their own free Gym soon, so I am told.

look at rubberbanditz on ebay or google there site and watch the video ideal for a workout anywhere, ive just ordered one
