GXO job £14.45 p.h. NIGHTS

Wow. That’s all I’ve got to say - wow.

Driver shortage + at least a 15% inflation in real terms (my own estimate based on my own living costs) YoY and what do we get - wages back to 2018 level

Oh btw it’s a free gym too

Some manual handling of white goods

There is no driver shortage, when will people realise this?

The agency I did some work for 8 years ago before I retired is now paying a lower rate than I was earning then.

That rate must be agency/contact specific, because sites I’ve been on pay much more than that. In fact the site I’m at,the night agency rates is somewhere around £19hr+
Also the staff drivers have recently had a 9% pay rise back dated to last July. So with parity in effect I got a huge 4 figure chunk of backpay

It’s a direct GXO job, read the ad. Yes it’s obviously tied to a single workplace aren’t they all or almost all■■? £14 per hour for nights and OT after 48 * FOURTY EIGHT hours what other jobs consider 48 hours/week normal ?!

That was who the lad who told me he’d had his hourly rate drop from £19 to £13 worked for , said he was out of Tamworth on I think premier foods contract
He did say they paid more near there , some place beginning with D , maybe he was on about this place
I’m wondering a bit if he was employed , as his uniform seemed to just be a brownish looking t-shirt with a gxo logo on the front , I thought gxo/ xpo drivers wore red/black uniform , Fred Perry’s , fleece etc

It amazes me how the night rate is only £1 more than day rate, it is even less if you consider your taxed on it, why do people work nights?

I recall my first job, night rate was time and a half after 7pm and over time on top after 8 hours!

PS I know some have to because of circumstances.

Less traffic, easier work, you have time during the day free to do stuff when places are open so you can do whatever you need to get done during the week leaving your weekends errand free.

It’s another reason why I don’t work nights.
As for Premier foods, iirc the rates went up to £20/hr at Worksop during the peak, and every driver was clambering to work there. But it’s fizzled out, which is why several of the drivers whom I worked with and went there, have suddenly returned to this easy job for slightly less

But you’ll spend most of Saturday sleeping assuming you do mon - fri , if you don’t go to bed you’ll be falling asleep in the pub at about 7 pm sat night , and how about your ■■■ life mon - fri , even sat night your likely to be long gone when the mrs puts her arms round you
I’ll stick to days thanks , it’s what normal people do

Up by dinnertime, wife is usually doing something Saturday morning anyway so nothing missed. Nowt wrong with the ■■■ life, my missus doesn’t mind being woken up and often I’m coming to bed the time she gets up so problem solved.

When I was working night rate was basic plus 25% at 14.45 that gives a basic of 10.83 very wide berth comes to mind

10.83 is a third less than 14.45, not 25%
11.56 would be the equivalent basic.

You’re not married then? :stuck_out_tongue:

Actually 10.83 is 25% less than 14.45 (e.g. I want £14.45 for this item, but you can have it for 25% less as you’re a good customer…)

Unfortunately it doesn’t work the other way around so 14.45 is not 25% more than 10.83…

This is true. 75% of 100 is 75.

75 plus 25% is 93.75.

The worst paying firms round here at £9ph last year are paying £12 and £13 per hour now and still advertising, motwyw.

There is a shortage, there was a shortage before and there will be a shortage after.

Nights…best suited to burglars and prostitutes.
