We are still sorting ours out, 2 yrs after we started, My advise, first, you have lost the yard with any objectors, move on , find another preferably one with a o license already on it, or with the history of it, second, you need to advertise with the largest local paper, they made me re advertise, third you will get a public enquiery, every one does now, have all the money clearly available, any doubt and you will have it thrown out and i personall recomend representing yourself, as solicitors will bankrupt you before you start, in the last 3 yrs i have had 4 public enquierys and all of them have been about the same change of yard details, and believe it or not, we actually have moved from one side of the yard to another, about 500 meters, thats all !vosa have made a meal of it. and then some!My next pi is end of feb.Oh yeah, best of luck, it can be done, just not quickly or simply anymore !

There certainly seem to be some ball breaking stories with regard to gvol’s. My yard isnt the problem, 4 residents are complaining about the highway between me and an A road, a distance of 3/4 mile, i have had planning permission for 20 years for a farm contracting business based in the yard and a history of 2 previous gvol’s held on this farm, the kit going through is a fair bit bigger and noisy than a lorry would be and it leaves here 7 days a week at all times, so will be intresting if a licence is given if they put terms on the hours.
shuttlespanker:
it will take them at least 4 monthsif there has been any objections to the application, there will have to be a public enquiry to listen to them, make more enquiries and then reply with the decision
if they accept the application and grant you the licence, they may attach terms and conditions to the licence, such as max number of vehicles, times when you can depart/arrive from the operating centre
You were right, they have said there needs to be a PI. Anyone know what the format is for these? and no i am not going to spend out on a specialist lawyer before i ever turn a wheel.

sorry to hear that, but, i sincerely hope it all goes well for you at the PI
Does anyone know the point of a PI into an operators licence? as far as i am concerned it will be a bunch of people saying lorrys will ruin our lives and run over our pets and children, ie, nothing they havent said in a letter already, so i fail to see the point in a meeting.
Don’t back down, you’ve lost before you start if you do. Application fee already paid - may as well get your money’s worth.
Take evidence of the previous GVOL’s held (hopefully without complaint).
Take pictures of the size of ag. machinery that is already legally entitled to use the lane.
(pointing out the width of it).
Be accurate in all paperwork/dealings. First it was 1/2 a mile, now its 3/4

See if you can get a local councillor on your side, buy him a pint, offer them a vehicle for the village carnival float or offer to lend them a trailer for the gymkhana judges.
Get in touch with the local Highways department and ask if there has been any accidents within the past 3 or 5 years at this location, is there a speed limit issue or need for traffic calming? The answer is probably ‘no’.
Their response, in writing, can only strengthen your case.
Good luck.
I got my licence from the PI, no movement restrictions 8 months from application
Glad that you now have it in place, 8 moths is shocking!
And the government sits around mashing gums about what’s holding back the economy? - Usually it’s them
