Yes they were.

Would be the ■■■■■■■ 180 or were they still fitting the V6 ■■■■■■■ at that time in 67/68 Larry? Cheers Dennis.

Awaiting the brave…

The Big J units I worked on owned by Standard Box company in Reading had AEC 505’s in them but I think that they were only rated at 26 ton gross. They carried new pallet’s on twin axle single wheeled trailer’s so possibly didn’t run at their full GTW?

This one had a ■■■■■■■ 205 with 6-speed AEC 'box.

Red and definitely NO rust!

Big J’s also had the AEC AV 471 option as well as the 505 but as has been said these would be on the lower weight designs 16, 24 and 26 Ton GC and GV Weights. Must have been fun in the days of one or two Ton over the top! Franky.

By the look of it this BRS Big J hasn’t a bonnet hump in the cab so I would think it was an early model and one of the few that were fitted with the ■■■■■■■ V6 which turned out to be a short term disaster, one which Jaguar and Mr.Lyons were responsible for  Cheers Bewick.
